  • Supporting and celebrating neurodiversity at TeamNP #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek ✨ A diverse and inclusive workplace is a stronger workplace and embracing neurodiversity allows us to tap into a wider rang of skills and perspectives, fostering creativity and innovation. We have several support tactics in place to ensure everyone feels supported, represented and able to perform their best, including: 📝 Work-based assessments: In the past 12 months, we've supported 112 colleagues with work-based assessments by in-house assessors. These assessments identify workplace challenges and recommend reasonable adjustments to help colleagues thrive, including those with neurodivergent conditions. 💬 AccessABILITY Network: One of our seven internal support associations. Colleagues can share experiences, gain insights, and access resources. It's a safe space for questions and support on disabilities, discrimination, reasonable accommodations, and carers' rights. 🤝 Buddies Programme: An opportunity for officers, staff, and volunteers to connect and share experiences with those who understand their journey. Colleagues can build a supportive network and receive support in a safe, welcoming environment. 🎤 Power Hours & DE&I Podcasts: Sharing knowledge and experiences is crucial for breaking down barriers and increasing awareness in our force. Power hours and podcasts on neurodiversity and life at TeamNP let neurodiverse colleagues share their experiences, hear from guest speakers, and discuss ideas to drive forward our force to be truly inclusive. I’m duty Gold for Northumbria this weekend and today is a big day for those supporting Newcastle United Football Club Football is a huge part of the regions identity and today means a lot. During my morning meeting with leaders across the force I took a quick poll to see who thought Newcastle would win, fair to say it was a split room - testament to the diversity of our fan base internally (read into that as you wish..) Northumbria Police Vanessa Jardine We, with partners, have a range of plans in place to keep everyone safe and ensure that an enjoyable day is had here and in London. I’m always struck by the unseen work that goes into delivering events like this by so many across policing, local authorities, the club and many many more. My family are in London hoping for a Newcastle win 🤞🖤🤍🖤🤍 Good luck, Newcastle

“I always wanted to become a police officer but found a great career in Cyber Security and becoming a Special Constable was good way to live the best of both worlds.” says Adam Pickering, Leonardo Product Cyber Resilience Manager and Special Constable for Northumbria Police’s Road Policing Team. 🚔 "Leonardo has a flexible working policy which allows me to shift my start or finish times to align to policing duties but the main support that Leonardo offers those who volunteer as policing officers comes from the fact that it has an incredible ‘Employer Supported Policing’ (ESP) offering,"   Discover Adam's career and how Leonardo support him in his volunteering as an employer: https://lnkd.in/eBJmKF55

  • Celebrating International Women's Day at TeamNP 💜✨   Last Friday (7th March), we hosted our annual International Women's Day event attended by officers and staff from across the force. The event was a great success with inputs from our own Chief Constable Vanessa Jardine, Assistant Chief Constable Simpson, and guest speakers from the National Police Federation and Virgin Media O2 Business.   Opening the event, CC Jardine shared her journey in policing, emphasising the importance of authenticity, leadership, and supporting and empowering all officers, staff and volunteers to bring their whole selves to work and to have the confidence to stand up against inappropriate behaviour. We were also privileged to host some incredible, guest speakers who shared their own invaluable insight and personal experiences including: • Jayne Monkhouse OBE, Equality Adviser to the National Police Federation of England and Wales, who highlighted the history of women in policing, recognising the efforts of trailblazing women who have led the change and the progress made against these inequalities • Charlotte Hails MSc, Head of Public Sector Vertical Strategy at Virgin O2, and former police officer at West Yorkshire Police, who bravely shared her experiences with sexual harassment and discrimination, shedding light on the importance of cultural change within policing   The event was a reminder of the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can be their authentic selves. By challenging inappropriate behaviour and fostering a culture of support, we can continue to make strides towards gender equality here at TeamNP.   Read below to find out what our officers and staff thought about the event 👇   #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction
