This is a voluntary role open to anyone aged 18 years or over, who can attend on average 2 sessions a month.     Our colleagues in The York & North Yorkshire Office for Policing, Fire, Crime and Commissioning (OPFCC), are looking for professionals to help govern both North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, by taking up between two and four-year terms on the: 👮 Joint Independent Audit Committee (JIAC - Supporting Police and PFCC) 🧑🚒 Independent Audit Committee (IAC - Supporting Fire & Rescue). Applicants must be over the age of 18, ideally live or work in North Yorkshire and be able to attend meetings during the working day either via Microsoft Teams or at Headquarters in Northallerton. Committee Members are required to each attend four meetings a year, these are voluntary unpaid roles, but reasonable expenses incurred as a result of carrying out the role will be reimbursed. Independent members will proactively support the Deputy Mayor for Police, Fire and Crime in ensuring the right governance and control mechanisms are in place to support a well-run police and fire service. 🤝 The Committees are responsible for enhancing public trust and confidence in the governance of the OPFCC, North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.     Could you spare just a couple of hours a week or month to guide and inspire our Volunteer Police Cadets in North Yorkshire? 🚨 We are looking for Volunteer Police Cadet Leaders to help manage and motivate our North Yorkshire Police Cadets who are aged 13 – 18 years old. Everyone has something to offer as a Volunteer. Volunteer Police Cadets is all about teaching our younger generation about policing duties, skills, and basic law. Cadet sessions will also include physical activities, drill, and visits from various departments within North Yorkshire Police such as the Dog Section, Roads Policing and Crime Scene Investigation units. We want our Cadets and Leaders to enjoy Police Cadets, so we include team building games, activities, and we love to get our Cadets involved in community engagement events. 🐶 🚔 We have multiple Police Cadet units across North Yorkshire that are recruiting for Cadet Leaders, so there is likely to be one near you! We have units at: 📍 Harrogate – Monday evening 📍 Scarborough – Monday evening 📍 York – Thursday evening 📍 Skipton – Thursday evening 📍 Catterick – Thursday evening What we look for in a Police Cadet Leader: 🤝 Excellent communication, planning and organising skills. 🤝 Be able to encourage people to support law enforcement. 🤝 Be a positive role model for our young Cadets. 🤝 Be able to attend at least one to two cadet sessions a month. 🤝 Previous experience of working with young people is desirable, but not essential. 🤝 Be able to demonstrate a caring, mature and supportive attitude. 🤝 Be able to listen to and communicate with a wide range of people, treating everyone with respect. 🤝 Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 🤝 Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age.     We are excited to announce we have further opportunities to join our Criminal Justice Department as a Case Review Officer. ⬇️ This is a Full Time / Permanent position based in York. 📍 As a Case Review Officer, you will play a key part in our new Case Progression team, removing the significant administrative burden of redaction and scheduling of unused material. It is projected that the team will release around 30,000 police officer hours back into frontline policing, while improving the quality of our police-charged prosecution case files, reducing waste, and improving the efficiency and speed of justice for increased positive outcomes for victims in North Yorkshire. 👮 🌟 The Case Review Officers will take responsibility for the specialist elements of the case file building process. You will support reducing file rejection and rework rates, increasing efficiency and reducing demand. This is a vital role in enabling the best possible service to victims of crime, and to ensure that Justice is served in a timely manner. Along with having strong Decision-making abilities, and provision of guidance to others, to be successful in this role you will also have: ✏️ Excellent communication and customer service skills. ✏️ Good IT skills and the ability to clip, process and share all digital media. ✏️ Experience of completing or reviewing complex files containing third party or sensitive material. ✏️ Good knowledge of the National File Standards and DG6. ✏️ Ability to work flexibly using own initiative and as part of the wider multi agency team. ✏️ Effective planning and organisational skills. ✏️ Accuracy and attention to detail - ability to work to tight deadlines. ✏️ A desire to develop yourself, attend relevant training courses and to become a subject matter expert in presenting criminal cases to the CPS and the Courts. As a Case Quality Review Advisor, you will be part of a team who is at the forefront of ensuring case file quality and improving the file submission standards across North Yorkshire Police. You will be required to quality review files before they are submitted to CPS, making decisions around suitability for submission, and ensuring all the relevant documents are attached correctly to the system and that the file is CPS ready. 🔍 📂 You will be completing regular reviews of case files submitted by departments across the Force, providing you with a diverse insight into the issue facing the community of North Yorkshire, so some understanding of law would be beneficial. Along with being an adept problem solver, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, to be successful in this role you will also have: ✔️ Membership of the Institute of Legal Executives with a specialisation on Part II in criminal litigation OR Law Degree including a specialisation in criminal law OR Equivalent demonstrable experience of working with the Criminal Justice System. ✔️ Knowledge of Criminal and Road Traffic legislation. ✔️ Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills. ✔️ Excellent IT skills. ✔️ Accuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and work quickly to tight time constraints. ✔️ Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a wider team. ✔️ Working knowledge of national criminal file standards in accordance with manual of guidance. ✔️ Experience of encouraging others to learn and develop to undertake their responsibilities and maximise their potential. ✔️ Ability to represent the Force at internal and external meetings in a professional manner.
