Recently we enjoyed a wonderful #WildWorkDay with a fabulous team from Nottingham Building Society. They worked really hard coppicing willow in our ridge and furrow at Wheatear field, where they gained some ‘moo’ colleagues! The task they completed is part of our essential reserve management work. The day ended with mindfulness and deep discussion in our woodland, focusing on the theme of #WorldMentalHealthDay which was workplace mental health. Thank you all for your dedication to the physical labour but also the reflective conversation and team building that took place afterwards. There is nothing like good science...even when it starts with poo...on rafts! Great work for our water vole project to get DNA and see as and when local populations of water vole start breeding with the recently released family groups within our beaver enclosure at Idle Valley Nature Reserve. All in good time.
Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust are taking urgent action for water voles 💚 We were pleased to receive an update from the Water Vole Recovery team, which has been using our monitoring rafts at their sites. Their team is delivering an extensive programme of habitat improvement and creation projects which aim to restore water vole populations across three key areas of the county 💦🍃 Water Vole Recovery Project Officer Ryan shared: “We've put most of the rafts out now, and in one of our sites, the water voles started using them right away, so they're working wonders!” Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust | The Wildlife Trusts
