Last week, Buzzi hosted a showcase event to present our pilot project and Nuada’s innovative carbon capture plant located at Buzzi Unicem Italia's cement facility in Monselice, Italy. During the event, Buzzi’s executive team outlined the company’s #decarbonisation strategy, emphasizing this project as a crucial milestone towards the broad implementation of Nuada’s #carboncapture technology across the Group’s cement plants to realise their #netzero targets. Nuada’s executive team shared that the ongoing trials have demonstrated excellent capture rates from the #cement flue gas. The high-performance data and insights gained so far will play a key role in the continued scaling up of Nuada’s technology, which addresses the key challenges of traditional carbon capture methods: cost, energy consumption, and process integration. 👥Today, the CCSA hosted a Member Showcase featuring Nuada, a carbon capture technology provider based in Belfast. Didier Lequeux, Chief Commercial Officer of Nuada, presented their innovative point-source capture process aimed at decarbonising hard-to-abate industries. 🔹 Nuada’s technology uses advanced solid sorbents and Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) along with vacuum swing technology (VPSA) to capture CO₂ from flue gases without heat or solvents. 🔹Their system can reduce energy demand by up to 80% compared to traditional methods, achieving over 90% capture efficiency in trials. 🔹The session included updates on pilot trials, commercial progress, and their technology scale-up roadmap. We were excited to visit Nuada’s first #CarbonCapture pilot hosted by Buzzi Unicem at their Monselice site in Italy. Nuada is a participant in the Innovandi Open Challenge, our innovation programme that partners start-ups with the world’s leading cement and concrete companies to collaborate on decarbonisation. Through the programme, Nuada formed a consortium with seven GCCA members including Buzzi Unicem, Cementir Holding N.V., Heidelberg Materials, Holcim, Cementos Argos, Molins and Siam Cement Group (SCG). Thomas Guillot, our CEO, toured the plant which uses an energy-efficient carbon capture solution by combining advanced solid sorbents named Metal-Organic Frameworks with a mature vacuum pressure swing adsorption process. This innovative, electrically powered system separates CO2 from industrial flue gases using pressure instead of heat and helps overcome the energy, cost, and integration challenges associated with deploying traditional carbon capture solutions in industry. 💚 Happy World Mental Health Day 💚 At Nuada we recognise the importance of mental health in the workplace and ensuring the wellbeing of our employees is a priority not just today but every day. To help raise awareness and raise some funds for mental health charities we held a tea and talk morning to bring our colleagues together to support good mental health for all. The amount of secret bakers we had hiding in our mist was quite surprising and we now have enough sweet treats to keep us going for at least a week. Today we encourage our employees to reach out to friends, colleagues and loved ones as sometimes a simple conversation can make such a difference. #WorldMentalHealthDay2024

Yesterday, Nuada attended a special event for Net Zero businesses, organized by Invest Northern Ireland and Northern Irish Connections, which offered us the fantastic opportunity to meet other #cleantech innovations in the region and showcase our award-winning technology to the Department for the Economy NI Minister, Conor Murphy and the US Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, Joe Kennedy III. This event sealed the establishment of a US Net Zero Advisory Board, with backing from the office of the US Special Envoy for Northern Ireland. This new advisory board aims to elevate Northern Ireland’s Green Economy and #NetZero strengths internationally, initially focusing on the United States and then expanding globally. The board will advise on developing propositions that promote trade, FDI, financing, and green diversification opportunities, driving economic advancement. As a leading innovator in #carboncapture, Nuada welcomes the establishment of this new advisory board and looks forward to collaborating in the near future! #CCUS #Innovation
