Sea side living with a contemporary aesthetic Our project right on the south coast - Waterside - reimagines the traditional home layout, turning the room arrangement on its head. With bedrooms on the ground floor and living spaces on top, layouts have been carefully planned to maximise natural light and capture the very best of its coastal context. Natural, deeply textured materials used throughout add a great sense of warmth and intimacy to the spaces. A honey-coloured sandstone wall begins externally and continues inside, drawing the eye to a timber staircase which opens onto the expansive living space overlooking the sea through a vast glazed panel. To realise the full potential of this project, OB Architecture took an innovative approach to the design of this house, showing the strength of our problem solving design skills through this incredible one-off home #luxuryhome #residentialdesign #architecture #architect #coastalhome #design #hampshirearchitect #londonarchitect #RIBA #video Photo - Brett Charles Architecture - Anthony Holland-May, Olly Bray

Getting hands on in the design process Every project is unique. At OB Architecture it is important that we use our team’s collective experience and skills in the studio to get the most out of the trickiest of sites and the most challenging briefs. Starting out with the pen, sketching and scribbling in our workshop sessions starts to bring the design to life, from a brief to a building. Every part of the OB team is important and integral to our process, bringing skills in sustainable design, delivery on site, and creativity to the table. Do you have a project that we can help realise? Making Hay: Contemporary Design, Permitted Developments and Site-wide Planning Strategies in farms and rural holdings Agricultural land holders face escalating challenges in today’s rapidly evolving economic and environmental landscape. To ensure their viability and adapt to changing market demands, many landowners are actively seeking opportunities for diversification. Permitted development, under Class Q and Class R, is an enticing avenue for agricultural land holders seeking expansion into new ventures while placing significant emphasis on modern architectural design principles. Director Toby M Wincer (RIBA) notes that "by capitalising on the benefits of permitted development, land holders can fortify their economic viability, champion environmentally sustainable design principles, preserve the rural landscape and heritage, whilst fulfilling local demands and cultivating thriving community engagement." You can read more on his thoughts on his blog Adding Value by Diversifying Farms and Rural Small Holdings: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eMfebpaj OB Architecture has an expertise for delivering additional value to sites across the South of England through a range of different planning strategies. Happy Friday! We can’t help but daydream about the delicious food we prepared at Saira’s Kitchen in Winchester last Friday. Despite the rain, our Summer outing turned into an unforgettable experience. We kicked things off with a city walk to admire some Hampshire architecture and a few of our own local sites and developments. We then gathered for a cookery workshop with Saira where we dove into the rich flavours of Pakistani cuisine. From learning traditional recipes to enjoying our delicious creations, it was a fantastic way to bond and enjoy some amazing food together. Here’s to great teamwork! #TeamBuilding #PakistaniCuisine #HampshireArchitecture #FridayFeeling Toby M Wincer (RIBA) Grant Freeman (RIBA) Dan Pyzer-Knapp Ross Galtress Christina Tsasi Dexter Bollhalder Anthony Holland-May Jess Armstrong Dina Feddah Maureen Soupe

Modular construction for a smarter, greener future in construction Modern Methods of Construction are transforming the building industry, offering innovative solutions that improve efficiency, quality and sustainability. By moving assembly to controlled environments, we’re not only accelerating project timelines, but also reducing waste and enhancing precision. By embracing off-site modular construction, our student accommodation project in the heart of Southampton minimised its ecological footprint while maximising operational efficiency. The decision to extend the neighbouring building through lightweight modular construction facilitated a seamless extension as well as the regeneration of the building and structure, enriching the historic town centre with its high-quality craftsmanship and materials. We are looking forward to the Offsite Awards and Expo in Coventry next week and we would be pleased to see you there, let us know if you’re going too! #offsiteconstruction #Innovation #sustainabledesign #modular #modularconstruction #retrofit #southampton #OffsiteExpo #OffsiteAwards OB Architecture - Toby M Wincer (RIBA), Grant Freeman (RIBA), Olly Bray Stelling Properties - Amy Flanagan, Monika Wandzik Planning - Lukenbeck Planning Photo by Brett Charles

Turning the home upside down - this artist’s home elevates seaside living Boasting an incredible yet highly exposed setting on the South Coast, Waterside is a seaside home reimagined for modern living, with a distinctive contemporary aesthetic. A key objective was to strike a balance between opening up the home to enjoy the 180-degree ocean views and create a sense of drawing the sea in, whilst also providing calm, cocooning spaces that act as a retreat for the owners. A deep house, layouts have been carefully planned to maximise natural light, particularly on the ground floor which is home to the owner’s artist’s studio. Natural, deeply textured materials used throughout add a great sense of warmth and intimacy to the spaces, A honey-coloured sandstone wall begins externally and continues inside, drawing the eye to a timber staircase which opens onto the expansive living space overlooking the sea through a vast glazed panel.
