Another significant milestone for Malawi's mining sector, as Omnia supports Attorney General Hon. Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda and the Government of Malawi to complete the much-anticipated Mining Development Agreement for the Songwe Hill Rare Earths Project, working alongside Trinity International. On Thursday 23 May 2024, Omnia’s Chair Cherie Blair CBE (Cherie Booth K.C.) delivered the keynote address at the Università Bocconi’s annual international arbitration conference, organised by Catherine A. Rogers and Anna Chiara Amato This year’s topic, ‘When International Arbitration Meets the Rule of Law: Lessons Learned and Challenges Ahead’ inspired Cherie’s address on the intersection between investment law and the fifth strand of Lord Bingham’s definition: that ‘the law must afford adequate protection of fundamental human rights’. Cherie was accompanied and supported by Senior Associate and proud Milanese, Pietro Bombonato.
