In this edition of our Tech Bites series, we're highlighting one of the many forms of blue carbon - mangrove restoration, an incredible nature-based solution for carbon removal and coastal protection. 🌿 Here’s what we cover: 1️⃣ What are mangroves? – Coastal trees that store carbon in their roots and soil for centuries. 2️⃣ Durability – Carbon stored for decades, with some risks from storms and sea-level rise. 3️⃣ Development – Well-established but requires proper planning to maintain ecosystems. 4️⃣ Cost – A cost-effective solution, ranging from $15 to $50 per tonne of CDR. 5️⃣ Co-benefits – Shields coastlines, supports biodiversity, and provides local resources. Mangroves are vital for our planet’s health, offering both climate action and ecosystem resilience. 🌍 💧 Do you know any other benefits or challenges of this CDR method? Let us know below ⬇️
