Introducing CDOP - the Carbon Data Open Protocol. We’re joining forces with our co-chairs S&P Global Commodity Insights, Global Carbon Market Utility and RMI to launch CDOP. Alongside 30 organisations CDOP will standardize data and enhance transparency across global carbon markets. The new protocol aims to: ✅ Boost transparency - with clear data standards that foster trust and clarity. ✅ Improve efficiency - through standardized processes that streamline collaboration. ✅ Raise integrity - ensuring carbon credits accurately reflect emissions reductions. As our CEO Allister Furey says, “By breaking down barriers between data standards, we can unlock the full potential of carbon markets to drive meaningful climate action.” 👉 You can read more and find out how to get involved in this article: https://lnkd.in/esR-6Qkk 🌃 And stay tuned for the launch during New York Climate Week this year. #CarbonData #CDOP #ClimateAction #CarbonMarkets #NewYorkClimateWeek

CNN recently approached us to feature in their article about the Miombo woodlands. Our research from Mozambique is a vital part of understanding carbon in the entire Miombo region, the largest dry tropical forest in the world. If you’ve ever wondered what makes our data and approach so unique, this is a great example. 🔍 Our advanced remote-sensing models are trained on 3 scales of lidar data, including terrestrial lidar on-the-ground, which help us produce precise biomass estimates without the errors that often come with traditional methods. 🌳 Each dataset we work with covers 50,000+ hectares - about 8 times the size of Manhattan - ensuring we capture all forest states, from pristine to regrowth and even degraded areas. This helps us create accurate models that detect change and estimate biomass accordingly. 👩🔬 Our team collaborates with local botanists and research teams when conducting field work to ensure we're collecting representative data across species. By replicating this work all over the world, we’ve built the largest training dataset ever to underpin carbon estimates globally. 🌏 Unlike typical models that rely on a larger volume of data from the US and Europe, our comprehensive datasets include a diverse range of landscapes: 30% from Africa, 32% from South America, and 38% from Southeast Asia and Australia. ✨ Our findings show that the Miombo woodland can store nearly 2x as much carbon as previously thought. This is an important factor in fighting climate change and supporting local communities that depend on these forests. Check out the full CNN article here: https://lnkd.in/eXWtDBK6

📈 The 2025 CDR Market Survey Report 📊 In December, we launched the 2025 CDR Market Survey alongside CDR.fyi, to gauge market sentiment and expectations for durable CDR solutions. The results are in, and the full report is now available, distilled with key insights and analysis. Here are some of the key findings: 📈 Growth expected: There’s a significant expansion of durable CDR expected, with its share of purchases predicted to catch up with nature-based significantly by 2030. 💼 Strong business case essential: A compelling business case, including clear ROI and cost reductions, is paramount. A price gap remains between buyer expectations and supplier costs. ✅ Quality is non-negotiable: Without trust in quality, price reductions alone won’t drive adoption. Buyers demand high quality, verifiable impact, and trust in credit integrity. Independent quality assessments can help here. ☁️ Net-Zero standards and policies are key: Clear, enforceable net-zero standards are the top driver of durable CDR demand.
