Is there a "right" way to use OSINT (Open Source INTelligence) within aviation security risk management? For years, aviation security practitioners have relied near solely on subjective, human-based processes for risk identification and analysis, inevitably leading to inconsistencies and vulnerabilities. The sheer complexity of the modern operating environment – with thousands of flights each day – means that time constraints, bias, and incomplete data continue to hamper effective risk identification and analysis. No human is capable of objectively analysing all this data. In a world where crises are constant and threat actors are evolving, we desperately need a paradigm shift in aviation security. The key is to meet modern problems (increasing complexity) with modern tools. In this case, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). AI is not just a tool, but an essential partner in ensuring consistent, objective, and data-driven analysis. AI allows us to automate risk assessment processes and ML can cull data captured from a broad spectrum of sources in near real-time, offering actionable insights that mitigate a wide range of risks faster and more accurately than ever before. AI and ML may never replace human analysts and subject matter experts. But, by combining the capacity for continuous learning with a diverse team of the best analysts, we can revolutionise how we approach risk management. This isn’t just about reacting to risks – it’s about proactively securing aviation operations with systems that adapt and improve over time. This is how OSINT can be integrated into aviation security risk management. I believe Osprey Flight Solutions is doing it different...and right. For a deeper dive into how Osprey is using AI and ML to transform the aviation security landscape, read my article: https://lnkd.in/eA94c_pP #aviationsecurity #AI #riskmanagement #datadriven #OspreyFS #OSINT

We are always thrilled to see our system delivering real value to the Royal Canadian Air Force | Aviation royale canadienne. Our CEO, Andrew Nicholson and Chief Intelligence Officer, Matthew Borie, had the pleasure of discussing the development of new, cutting-edge OSINT capabilities, driven by RCAF requirements, that have the potential to further transform how open-source intelligence is utilised as part of a comprehensive intelligence function. #Inspire #OSINT #Aviation #Leadership
A genuine pleasure today to meet with MGen Chris McKenna, OMM, MSC, MSM, CD, Commander 1 Canadian Air Div and the A2 teams. It’s really rewarding to see our system delivering real value to Royal Canadian Air Force | Aviation royale canadienne. I’m looking forward to seeing this relationship go from strength to strength. We had some fascinating and exciting discussions about the development of new, cutting edge OSINT capabilities driven by RCAF requirements that have the potential to further transform the application and utility of open source capabilities as part of a wider intelligence function. We were very lucky to meet with the RCAF personnel in the amazing Mynarski Hall and it was inspiring and humbling to hear the story of Andrew Mynarski, a Royal Canadian Air Force Pilot Officer and recipient of the Victoria Cross. He sacrificed his life in an attempt to save the life of his compatriot and rear gunner, Pat Brophy, of the fatally damaged Lancaster bomber of which they were crew. A total disregard for his own safety in service of his team mates. We all believe we would do the same but, thank goodness, it is very rare that anyone gets the chance. However, it’s not about one event but an approach to life and leadership through service to others. What an inspiration Andrew Mynarski is. #inspire #osint #aviation #sacrifice #leadership
