The team at Pd-m would like to share the brilliant news announcement from our long standing client SleepCogni. While 1 in 3 adults suffer from insomnia and have access to a range of treatments like CBT-I, such options are unavailable for those under 18. Sadly, this age group has been underserved for too long. Families are often left to cope with limited support, despite insomnia affecting 25% of children and 35% of teens. With the support of the National Paediatric HealthTech Accelerator led by UpVentures Capital and Par Equity, SleepCogni are taking the next step towards bringing this much-needed solution to market faster. Has your child, teen, or young adult struggled with insomnia? Sadly, this age group has been underserved for too long. Families are often left to cope with limited support, despite insomnia affecting 25% of children and 35% of teens. There’s growing concern about the overuse of solutions like melatonin, which carries risks related to reproductive health and puberty in children (see article in comments). While 1 in 3 adults suffer from insomnia and have access to a range of treatments like CBT-I, such options are unavailable for those under 18. Fortunately, the team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust 's hospital are working alongside us at SleepCogni to change this. Over the past 12 months, thanks to nearly £500k in funding from Innovate UK, we’ve been adapting our technology to support young people with clinically validated behavioural interventions. Now, with the incredible support of the National Paediatric HealthTech Accelerator led by UpVentures Capital and Par Equity, we’re taking the next step towards bringing this much-needed solution to market faster. We’re excited to start the 12-week programme and continue our mission to help young people sleep better. https://lnkd.in/edujQWaj #childhealth #insomnia #innovation #sleep #healthtech #mentalhealth Med-Tech Innovation

A big step towards circularity in medical devices! This week saw the release of the Design for Life Roadmap (link below), a major milestone for the future of medtech in the UK. At Pd-m, we are proud to have been part of the workshops held by the DHSC, working alongside over 80 stakeholders from industry, the NHS, academia, and regulatory bodies to shape this forward-looking initiative. This program sets out a vision for a circular approach in medtech—designing, procuring, and processing medical products to enable reuse, remanufacturing, or recycling. By extending the lifespan of products, we can preserve value, foster innovation, and support the transition to a net-zero NHS, all while delivering better patient care and cost efficiency. The roadmap highlights six key challenges, from aligning strategies and changing behaviours, to evolving regulations and fostering transformative innovation. Addressing these will be crucial to achieving the 2045 vision of a robust circular system, minimizing environmental impact while driving economic growth. It’s exciting to see the sector come together to formalise a roadmap supporting a net-zero transformation. We at Pd-m are eager to continue collaborating and advocating for the key role of design in the journey, whilst actively working with clients today on shaping their products to support a more sustainable and resilient medtech landscape. https://lnkd.in/e4yBKEMB #DesignForLife #MedTech #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #NetZeroNHS #wetakeyoufurther

We are excited to announce that Pd-m will be attending the Design for Planet Festival 2024, the Design Council's award-winning flagship event focused on supporting the UK design community in addressing the climate and ecological crises. This year’s theme is Planet Positive Business. Pd-m will be attending a Roundtable Session called, Future Business Innovation Investment. This session will explore how the innovation ecosystem can harness design capabilities to align with national priorities from net zero to healthy lives. Our CEO, Richard Hall MSc, BA(Hons), CMgr MCMI, FRSA, will also be participating in the Design Debates: Products vs Business Models on November 6 at 15:30. This intellectual showdown aims to challenge participants and the audience to consider which approach will lead the way forward in proving that design can drive profits while achieving net-zero objectives. By presenting compelling arguments and case studies, both teams will engage in a lively discussion that encourages attendees to think critically about the role of design in shaping a sustainable future. Join us as we explore the intersection of design, sustainability, and business innovation at this impactful event!
