However, I firmly believe that the pendulum is bound to swing back eventually! It's impossible to predict whether the global economy will deteriorate further before it improves, and possessing a crystal ball would be the only way to foresee when exactly the tech world will take off again 🚀 Nonetheless, there is no doubt that the Talent Acquisition landscape has evolved - influenced by AI, data-driven hiring decisions, and reduced budgets.     The next generation of talent is already here! According to Zurich Insurance, those "Born between 1995 and 2009, Generation Z – or Gen Z – currently account for about 2 billion of the world’s population and are expected to represent 27 percent of the workforce by 2025". This means that you can no longer expect to use the same attraction techniques - the same job descriptions, the same monotonous roles - the roles previous generations would have been excited to take will be turned down. The truth is, they have options and David Stillman, (author of Gen-Z @Work which he co-authored with his Gen-Z son Jonah) states that "More than half (56%) of the Gen Z members we surveyed said they want to write their own job descriptions, and 62% want to customise their own career path". With more opportunities than ever before across many different sectors, a lack of trust in employers following redundancies means that attracting and retaining the next generation is going to be more difficult than ever before.     Good Morning LinkedIn! The new year brings many changes, firstly it is absolutely freezing here in the UK with wind chills in the minuses and all steps and decking have become a full on health hazard (almost broke my back like 'Mike Tyson did' when I went to take the rubbish out 😅). Whilst most people's main worries are the weather and whether they will be able to get to work on time - many talented individuals are without work. Majority are unable to do what they love because, at the time, companies were unable to forecast properly, react to macroeconomic circumstances and they simply overhired (Not the case for every company but I can certainly speak from experience). If you take a look around - majority come from non-revenue generating parts of the business, those that were mostly affected were HR, Talent Acquisition/recruitment & marketing. The numbers are staggering and it didn’t matter if you hit your hiring number, made the best campaigns or improved every HR process - if you didn’t make money and weren’t a VP level leader, chances are you were always at risk. So many amazing, talented people are on the market right now and we want to cross the T’s, dot the I’s and connect great people with great companies to hopefully help make that number just a little bit smaller.
