PRC has the pleasure of designing the Misery Hill Hotel, a glass box hotel and music venue at Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock. PRC has worked closely with owner Harry Crosbie to create an innovative design proposing a 34 hotel bedrooms in a two level glass box that will ‘over sail’ the listed two hundred year old stone warehouse at Hanover Quay in Dublin’s dockland. The scheme is of particular interest as it has been the developer’s family home for 30 years. Harry Crosbie had been behind some of Dublin’s most innovative entertainment venues including The Point/3 Arena, the Grand Canal Theatre, and Vicar Street. The Planning Application involves converting the stone warehouse into a hospitality and entertainment venue. The proposal represents a transformative project that merges the preservation of part of the city’s architectural heritage with innovative contemporary design. The project’s combination of a boutique hotel, two hundred person intimate music and floating bar will animate this underused section of Dublin’s ‘Silicon Dock’ now the heart of the city’s IT booming IT industry.  The development, by bringing needed life this section of the historic 18th century Grand Canal Dock quayside will effectively complete the development of the area. A Planning decision is due in early 2025. #Architecture #Dublin

Last week, our PRC Architecture & Planning Ltd London office participated in a Volunteer Day at School of Wok Cook for the Homeless. The team worked together to cook double portions of delicious Asian food, with half of the food being donated to local charities across London, reaching those in need and making a positive difference in their lives. For Your Tomorrow at Stowe Gardens PRC Architecture & Planning Ltd is thrilled to have been part of the team that brought this incredible project to life through our volunteer efforts. National Trust Stowe Gardens has been announced as the UK’s official host for the British D-Day 80 memorial exhibition, 'For Your Tomorrow'. The exhibition will be open to the public from October 1st to November 11th, 2024. This memorial installation, dedicated to the soldiers killed in the D-Day landing on June 6, 1944, will be coming to Stowe, the UK’s official host of the commemoration, for exhibition in October. The large-scale art installation consists of 1,475 silhouettes of Second World War military personnel and will be open to the public from October 1st to November 11th, 2024. 'For Your Tomorrow – the People’s Tribute' was created by community artist Dan Barton, with the number of figures in the display representing the number of fatalities under British command on June 6, 1944. The work is currently installed at the British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer, France, where it will remain over the summer before coming to Stowe. Year in Practice – Corey Horton   Last week, we had a blast at the bowling alley celebrating Corey's successful completion of his placement year at PRC Architecture & Planning Ltd!   PRC Architecture & Planning Ltd continues to support Year Out students as they complete their placement year in practice as part of their architectural academic development. He joined PRC in September 2023 to undertake his Part 1 placement. Since joining the company, Corey has gained a lot of experience in the RIBA Work Stages and strengthened his skills in architectural software. We hope the knowledge and experience he has gained will be invaluable for his continued studies.   We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his hard work.
