We are hiring. Sydney Festival is looking for a Creative Producer – First Nations to curate and produce Festival works that champion and platform First Nations artists across a variety of artistic genres. This new designated First Nations role is a full-time, senior-level position that will shape the future of the Festival’s First Nations programming with bold curatorial vision and hands-on delivery. Skill summary: - Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as being an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and accepted in the community - Intimate knowledge of the key persons, companies, trends and opportunities in First Nations performance and the broader arts programming sector - Experience in at least one of the Festival’s main presenting genres: theatre, dance, music, visual art, public art, community practice - Experience in devising, organising and producing events with First Nations protocols, artists and communities - Experience in event production, management and presentation.   - Relationship and team management skills working with numerous stakeholder groups both internal and external, including experience of conflict resolution - Experience in developing and managing budgets   - Comfortable hosting artists across a range of hospitality requirements  - Able to travel, on occasion, to attend showings and performances both nationally and internationally  - Passion for the performing arts sector and its possibilities If you’d like to speak to us before making an application, we’re open. We run an amazing events producing course at Rich Mix for 16 to 21-year-olds. We have an amazing FREE opportunity for any young people you work with or know, to be a part of. Every year, Rich Mix runs the New Creatives program - it’s a VERY cool events producing program with weekly workshops where young people come together and put on their own takeover event, inspired by workshops, guest speakers, free trips, collaborating and curating together. Last year, they sold out with the biggest ever Takeover Festival at Rich Mix with 600 young people in the building– check out our blog about it here to get the vibe of last year’s New Creatives. We just went live for our 2025 cohort of 20 young people which will begin in April 22. We are very excited to announce the launch of our Producers Development Programme, open for applications now. Join The Uncultured to develop your producing skills in this 6-week programme. With sessions on fundraising, project management, budgeting, marketing and touring, it sounds like a proper dry lunch but we promise colourful presentations and the occasional gag.    This programme will be ideal if you're just at the beginning of your producing career, or if you've started to get some real-world experience but are still feeling like a bit of an imposter. Expect sessions to be practical and honest, with plenty of space for questions and support.   The Uncultured (Ashleigh Bowmott and Laura Sweeney) are producers, facilitators, fundraisers and curators who work across Live Art, experimental dance and theatre, but have also dabbled in visual arts, artist moving image and literature. the-uncultured.com Sessions will take place on Wednesdays at 1.30pm.
