Nature House at COP16 marks our first multi-day activation on the periphery of the UN Biodiversity Conference, bringing together influential partners and initiatives to drive meaningful change for nature. Key collaborations included the We Are Family Foundation youth delegation hosting an intimate roundtable on youth climate justice, and Earthrise Studio enriching our evening with a reception celebrating Colombian women environmental leaders. This was followed by The Villars Institute hosting a dinner centred on radical collaboration for nature restoration. Artists and filmmakers laid down new initiatives to reshape how we think about our natural world, inviting guests to join new movements to supercharge impact. On Day 2, Deloitte and WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development led a focus on sustainable food solutions, exploring innovations needed to feed the global population sustainably. PwC and Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) then provided practical insights on how businesses can embed the Global Biodiversity Framework into their strategies. This was followed by HSBC, Salesforce, and KPMG hosted a dinner exploring the vast opportunities of the emerging world restoration economy. We've been privileged to work with remarkable organisations like the UN CBD, UNDP, and Microsoft - each contributing unique expertise and vision to Nature House. The collective energy and commitment shown by our partners has been truly inspiring. We're excited to report back on the continued momentum and collaborations as we progress through the second half of the week.

🌿 Tackling the biodiversity crisis requires a transformational shift in the way the world views and values nature. Earlier this week, we joined thought-leaders and changemakers at #COP16 to explore the vital role of film, arts and culture in shaping new narratives and inspiring action for nature. The event, hosted at Nature House by The Villars Institute in collaboration with Project Everyone, showcased incredible projects and partnerships helping to catalyse change. 🎥 We were excited to share news of our upcoming feature film on biodiversity, produced by Open Planet Studios, which will launch at COP30 in Belém next year as part of a global impact campaign. Want to be part of it? Collaborate with us and help drive change in this crucial 12 months ahead. 🙌 With special thanks to our valued partners and event hosts The Villars Institute, Project Everyone and Goals House, and to all involved for an inspired evening. 📷 Joe Short #COP16Colombia #Biodiversity #OpenPlanet #StoriesForChange #ProtectNature Jonnie Hughes Gail Gallie Brad Irwin MBE Lee Howell Umazi Mvurya Thijs Biersteker Isabella Noero Claudia Bahamón

This week we are in Cali, Colombia alongside world leaders, scientists, Indigenous leaders, business voices and civil society actors for COP16, the United Nations Biodiversity Conference. We are excited to be hosting the first-ever Nature House on the fringes of the conference. We will be welcoming guests to interact with a carefully curated programme of intimate events exploring the intersection of nature, biodiversity, climate justice, finance, art and more. A unique convening space, it will bring together thought leaders, activists and creators to learn, challenge, imagine and inspire.    This COP is the first meeting since governments struck an unprecedented deal to protect the earth’s precious ecosystems with an agreement known as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), in 2022. This framework, when achieved, will complete the Global Goals by protecting vital habitats, enabling safe global development, and including all stakeholders – notably vital Indigenous land stewards – in how we manage these ecosystems and the services they provide.    Achieving these ambitious objectives will require the whole of society to work in partnership to prioritise nature – and put this plan into action.    Find out more about the unprecedented opportunity the COP presents to put this plan into action and create tangible results for all life on earth: https://lnkd.in/eXicQC9Z

🌍 Mother Nature in the Boardroom campaign 🌍 🌱 From such beginnings as Mother Nature as CEO, a compelling and symbolic initiative spearheaded by Willicroft... to Patagonia making Earth its sole shareholder... to Faith In Nature appointing Nature as a non-executive director on its board... 🕊 We have gone beyond getting the memo. We are on board with Nature. 📽 Watch Sea Change Project and Jane Goodall Institute Global 's latest short film "Mother Nature in the Boardroom", narrated by Craig Foster and featuring Dr Jane Goodall. This is an urgent message for decision makers: 💮 Provide a seat at your boardroom table for Mother Nature. 💮 Include her voice in every choice you make. 💮 Listen to her warnings and wisdom and join the drive to give her the best chance possible by prioritising biodiversity – the thing upon which all life depends. ☀️ To find out more about these initiatives, which one would suit your organization, and how to onboard Nature, reach out to the pioneers in the field: Earth Law Center, Nature Governance Agency (NGA), @Lawyers for Nature, Corporate ReGeneration, The Zoönomic Institute, with legal allies across the US, UK and Netherlands Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Shearman & Sterling LLP, Bates Wells and Liance Legal. 🐸 For an overview of the various models for Nature as a Stakeholder (Inspiration/Purpose, Advisor, Shareholder, Director), check out the Onboarding Nature Toolkit https://lnkd.in/eSmCiJjp, including legal templates for the Netherlands and the UK (and more jurisdictions to come) - @B Lab Benelux, Nyenrode Business University #NatureOnTheBoard #onboardingnature #naturegovernance #voiceofnature

Yesterday, SailGP hosted a roundtable at #ClimateWeekNYC2024 in partnership with Goals House 'Making Waves Ahead of the UN Conference 2025'. The ocean is SailGP's racetrack - it sits at the heart of our global racing league. 🌊 This open and collaborative conversation shed a light on the ocean and it’s prominent role in the wider climate conversations as we go into 2025, specifically uplifting the UN Ocean Conference in Nice. Discussions focused on the vital role the ocean plays in restoring the planet back to health. From restoration to innovation, participants agreed that we must keep all eyes focused on the blue if we are to have a hope of achieving any of our climate or biodiversity targets. 🌱 Incredible minds joined the roundtable from policy leaders through to innovators including Pascal Lamy, Chair of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum, Joy Jibrilu, CEO of Nassau Paradise Islands (Bahamas), Daniela V. Fernandez, Founder and CEO of the Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) and many more. Thank you to Project Everyone's Gail Gallie for co-hosting this event with our Chief Purpose Officer Fiona Morgan and thank you to all the participants for an invigorating and inspiring conversation. 'We're all in the same boat!' 🐻❄️🐠🐟🐆🌎 #CreaturesUnited #ProjectEveryone #SailGP #NYClimateWeek2024 #PoweredbyNature #collabration #innovation #OceanRacetrack

🌍✨ Highlights from Goals House #UNGA & #ClimateWeekNYC so far! We kicked off with a reception hosted by Mastercard focusing on boosting climate resilience through digital and financial inclusion. Next, Elemental Excelerator and Earthshot Ventures spotlighted innovators from across the globe, building solutions for both people and the planet. Collaboration and co-investment were celebrated throughout the evening. Sophie Hunter, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jessica Sweidan then introduced the "Salt of The Earth" campaign, using the power of art and storytelling to protect the world’s salt marshes. The night closed with a dinner hosted by World Health Organization, Project Everyone and CIFF on ending violence against children. This was followed by a Nature dinner and nightcap featuring UNICEF, CurvePoint Capital and S2G Ventures exploring the intersection of fashion, music, tech, and art to preserve nature for future generations. #GoalsHouse #UNGA #ClimateWeekNYC #TogetherForImpact

To shift the dial, we feel radical creativity is required... which is why we are so passionate about our creative platform Creatures United - and so, so happy when they come to life with incredible, bold and brave partners like SailGP

SailGP announces our innovative partnership with Creatures United, a creative platform to raise awareness around biodiversity, kick-starting at New York Climate Week today. SailGP introduces a collection of six digital Creatures - a whole SailGP boat - who will act as champions for Purpose storytelling and the Impact League, which runs alongside the racing championship, tracks teams' efforts to reduce their environmental footprint and promote inclusivity in sailing. Their selection is a careful consideration of species, habitat, inclusivity and relevance, and each has their own unique story to tell. SailGP and Creatures United will work together to amplify stories of nature as a valued teammate, driving awareness of SailGP’s pioneering Impact League and broader issues facing our planet. Throughout the upcoming 2024-2025 season, Creatures United will be embedded in Impact League milestones, with the Creatures helping tell stories about the positive environmental impacts generated by SailGP athletes and the league. Stay tuned for more information to come! 🐆🐻❄️🐠👀 https://lnkd.in/g8e9mF6i #PoweredbyNature #SailGP #CreaturesUnited #BetterSportBetterPlanet #ImpactLeague #storytelling

If we in the advertising industry are to attract future talent and safeguard our industry’s legitimacy, we must address our image problem. We are not lawyers or doctors, where we can lose our licence. Yet, the impact we have on people’s behaviours, habits, self-esteem, dreams and aspirations are unquestionable. Maybe we should implement a code of conduct? Or kick out bad players? What happened to the days where every ad had the name of the agency in the upper right-hand corner? That was accountability. We need to be proud about working in advertising — how can we be that without any responsibility or accountability? Made my Cannes début 👀 Attending Cannes Lions felt a bit like stepping into a parallel universe. One where climate change doesn’t exist, where ‘Amazon’ refers to the brand instead of the forest, and where watermelon isn’t the symbol of Palestinian liberation but the flavour of a mass-produced lipgloss. Cannes is the biggest advertising festival in the world; a shrine to an industry worth $733 billion. It’s a strange and discombobulating place to be an activist… but I believe that these are the spaces where we need to be showing up in numbers. If I only speak to rooms of people who nod along, I’m probably in an echo chamber. And we won’t solve this crisis from inside one. Advertising shapes what we think about; it decides what’s aspirational, and manufactures our desires. It compels our behaviour. I can’t help but imagine what it could look like as a force for good. If instead of propping up destructive industries like fossil fuels, aviation, fast fashion, or mass-produced meat and dairy, it promoted a regenerative economy, which put wellbeing and nature ahead of profit? If instead of allying itself with influencers promoting consumption, it allied itself with activists fighting for justice? I met so many incredible people this week who want to be part of solutions — and who have a critical role to play. The climate crisis is not a logistical challenge so much as a cultural one; it’s a story we’ve failed to tell. As I shared on the main stage, we urgently need communicators and creatives. We need folks with these skills to not only sound the alarm, but show that another world is possible. Recording coming soon 🎥 Huge thanks to Piotr Lewicz from Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for making it happen! And to Danielle Cottrell for getting me stage ready 🙏 . . . . . . . . . #climatecrisis #climateaction #cannes #activism #action #speaker #business #sustainablebusiness #climateanxiety #leadership #publicspeaking #inspiration #marketing #media #advertising
