We are delighted to share that the former Magistrates Courts in Bristol is complete! The Grade II listed former Magistrates Courts in Bristol has been thoughtfully transformed by the Creative Youth Network into a multi-use creative hub for young people, assisted by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. As MEP Consultants, our responsibility was to carefully renew the building services while preserving and repurposing existing features. This involved retaining the Tobin Tubes and Sun Burners, as well as futureproofing the heating distribution system to ensure it is compatible with the Bristol Heat Network. ✨ Giving Back ✨ Volunteering at Spring of Hope's Women's Shelter This week, our Diversity & Inclusion Manager, Katie Corbett, joined forces with several Women in Property South West members and volunteered at inHope (Bristol) Limited's Spring of Hope Women's shelter. Spring of Hope offers support and refuge to vulnerable and homeless women in Bristol. The day involved learning about the incredible people behind the organisation and the programs they provide to the community, taking part in a deep clean of the shelter, and a debrief over lunch. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and we are grateful for the opportunity to help. #volunteering

This development is now one of the largest Certified Passivhaus projects in Europe. This 900-bed student accommodation is a testament to energy efficiency and comfort. We're delighted to have provided Passivhaus Consultancy, Soft Landings, and MEP support to this ambitious scheme, developed to support UWE’s Net Zero Carbon ambitions. This project is a vital step on their journey to sustainability, minimising energy costs associated with operation and enhancing student comfort. Last week, Principal Sustainability Consultant Tim Wilcockson attended the launch event for a new CIBSE publication: Retrofit Revisit. Retrofit Revisit is an important building performance evaluation project to inform the UK’s approach to improving our housing stock and contribute to our net zero objectives. This publication details a building performance evaluation of 10 retrofitted homes carried out approximately 10 years after the original retrofit works. It aimed to gather lessons on retrofit and BPE techniques. Tim was the building performance evaluator and coordinator of specialist investigations on 2 of the case studies, using occupant satisfaction surveys, airtightness testing, air quality monitoring, and u-value heat flux plates, among other non-intrusive techniques such as WUFI modelling to help the authors, Marion Baeli and Julie Godefroy, to analyse the impact of retrofitting our homes and the durability of the measures taken. We are delighted to see Beckford's Tower and Museum featured in the latest issues of the Conservation and Heritage Journal. Beckford’s Tower is a fascinating collection of spaces and offered the QODA MEP and QODA Light design teams some very interesting challenges in achieving the correct environmental conditions for the museum spaces and historic building fabric, and visual aesthetic throughout the variety of spaces.
