Not a bad week.. As hectic as it was, it was an extremely productive and exciting week at Intellect Design Arena Ltd and intellectAI. We started off the week by kickstarting a focused week long #Bootcamp to solve an extremely important and high priority problem for one of our Strategic customers. Followed that up with a one day version of our super-charged #AI #Bootcamp powered by #PurpleFabric with a number of our fantastic customers and friends in our London office. #artofpossible To round up, we went on and won the 'Best use of new Technology' award at the CITF RITA (Real Innovation Technology Awards). Thank you Joanna Poplawska and Nabeelah Ashif Patel LLB (Hons) for hosting a fantastic event. Can't thank our Customers and Partners enough for all their support. Last week my Project, the Market Surveillance Refresh (MSR) Project, won Tech Refresh Project of the Year at the RITA (Real Innovation Technology Awards)! It was great to celebrate the hard work which has gone into this over the past 3 + years with some of the fab team here at the Financial Conduct Authority - it was very much a team effort! We also celebrated the amazing work put in by other people & teams at the FCA to promote Diversity, Equity & Inclusion as well as other Project Initiatives. Now onto the next Project...!

Last week Aarushi Karki and I attended RITA (Real Innovation Technology Awards) 2024 as our Code the Future (CTF) Nepal team had been shortlisted for the ‘Technology for Good’ category. The Technology for Good category is all about the positive societal impact or contribution to solving a societal challenge. All the nominees have enhanced access to information, created an environment for people to connect, developed a product that has enabled better access to services or supported a local community.   Our CTF team believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunity and creating a brighter future and that everyone should have the opportunity to learn regardless of gender, race, or socioeconomic status. We want to increase diversity in Tech and foster new ideas and perspectives. We created CTF to provide free access to training and mentoring to those from diverse or less privileged backgrounds to help kickstart careers they thought were out of reach.   Code the Future Nepal took our online free Code the Future bootcamp to Kathmandu to support school kids from the poorer regions of Nepal and provide them with skills training that could lead them on a path to a Technology or Engineering career.   To make this possible our Code the Future team partnered up with Engage with Science Nepal, a charity based in Scotland who provide STEM to students in Nepal. Our tutors (and other IBMers) worked hard throughout the year volunteering for various causes to send their Benevity donations to EwSN to provide travel bursaries and food allowance for the kids to they could travel from all areas of Kathmandu to attend the bootcamp. The bootcamp itself is 2 weeks long and covers Code the Future web development skills training, agile training and a hackathon and costs around £2000, all of which is collected through Benevity donations by our team and supporters. Alas, we did not win the award this time, but it was a real honour making the shortlist and being invited to the Awards ceremony. We are proud to be part of a community that values technology for good and is working to create a better future for all. Last week I had the opportunity to attend the RITA (Real Innovation Technology Awards) Awards. Whilst the area the team and I were nominated for were finalists, our colleagues in another project were winners in their category. The FCA representation was certainly strong and in good numbers. It hasn’t even been 10 months since I joined the FCA, however these last 10 months have been an interesting journey with several challenges worth pursuing.
