  • WOW what an incredible evening! ✨ We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended Strike a pose, this is the first time we have put on an event of this size and it means the world to us that so many of you came! We are a small charity aiming to make a big difference and we have been overwhelmed by the support you have shown us, the women we support and the work that we do. Thank you to Amy and Mia, two of our volunteer fundraising co-ordinators who organised the event, thank you to the team involved, nearly 100 people volunteered their time, from designers to models, makeup & hair stylists, photographers, runners, dressers, and our fundraising team running the raffle. The list is endless but you ALL played such crucial roles to making this event such a huge success! 👏 Thank you so much to @invisiblewindfactory for hosting us in your stunning venue! ✨ Stay tuned for more upcoming events... • The sewing classes are empowering women to explore new possibilities. We've seen women join the group with ideas they want assistance bringing to life, and together, we've supported one another in making those ideas a reality. They’ve used scrap fabric and old clothing that has been donated to create new designs, and have also brought in clothing that they needed to fix – using our sewing machines and sewing equipment they’ve been given the independence to fix it themselves and give it the care it needs to hopefully last many more years. #ReuseAndRepair #SewingWorkshops #SustainableFashion #MakingClothes

  • 📢 We need your help! Refugee Women Connect (charity number 1113574) are calling for nominations to win a £1,000 Movement for Good Award from Benefact Group. We are encouraging people to nominate Refugee Women Connect for a chance to win £1,000 as part of Benefact Group’s annual Movement for Good Awards, which is giving over £1million away to charities and good causes for the seventh year. It’s quick and easy to nominate Refugee Women Connect online at https://buff.ly/gQY8cxe ❗ *Please search our charity number 1113574 and choose community category, to nominate us not our name*❗ Winners will be drawn at random and the more times we are nominated the more chance we have of being selected. In 2024, 11% of charities who won had received less than 10 nominations which shows that every nomination matters and can really make a difference.

  • A little behind the scenes video from one of the incredible make up artists who jumped in to help after several members of the team pulled out. Thank you so much for all your hard work Katie Bowater, the models looked incredible ✨

Last week Chelsea Hughes tagged me in an appeal for makeup artists to help at the Refugee Women Connect charity fashion show after a few last minute cancellations. I jumped at the opportunity - it’s important we all do our bit to support charity when we can. For those of you who know me, you’ll know I LOVE fashion. I even sew some of my own clothes…so of course this event was right up my street 💃 We had an absolute ball back stage, getting the models ready and bringing each collection to life through makeup. I’m still obsessed with the 60s collection 🤩🤩 I met SO many incredible people, well done to everyone involved in making this event happen 🤍 and thank you to the lovely Chelsea for thinking of me for this event🫶

  • This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Accelerate Action, highlighting the need for faster and more effective steps towards gender equality. At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158 to reach full gender parity! At Refugee Women Connect many of our service users have survived some form of gender based violence, including sexual abuse and exploitation, human trafficking, and female genital mutilation. This International Women’s Day we join many around the world in calling for an increase in momentum in addressing the barriers, biases, gender based violence and discrimination that women face around the world. #IWD2025 #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #RefugeeWomen
