We are proud to share a deeply personal and powerful reflection from our CEO, Najwa Abdallah on completing her first year at Amna. Growing up in war-torn Lebanon, Najwa experienced the pain of displacement firsthand, and today, that journey fuels her dedication to refugee-led healing. In her first year leading Amna, Najwa has guided us through immense challenges—global conflicts, and personal heartache as she watches her home country, Lebanon, suffer once again. But despite these hardships, her resilience has helped us expand our reach to provide critical psychosocial support to refugees from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, and beyond. Najwa’s leadership is rooted in empathy, vulnerability, and strength. She leads not only as a CEO but as someone who intimately understands the trauma of displacement. She shares Amna's vision of helping refugees not only heal from the impact of trauma and displacement, but find joy and belonging. Read more about Najwa’s remarkable journey and our achievements this past year. 👇 #RefugeeLeadership #MentalHealth #TraumaInformedCare #AmnaRefugeeHealing

I grew up in Lebanon, experiencing multiple displacements, losses, and poverty. The heartbreaking scenes unfolding in the streets of Lebanon feel all too familiar, as I have witnessed them many times before. The effects of displacement, conflict, and poverty extend far beyond mere physical survival. The chronic stress and trauma faced by displaced communities can persist for a lifetime, especially for children whose development is disrupted by violence and instability. Adults and young people are increasingly grappling with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Without urgent mental health support, these challenges will only worsen. This is why I am deeply committed to ensuring that Amna continues its vital work in Lebanon. Please donate and share #Lebanon #healing
🚨 Crisis in Lebanon: Over 1 Million Displaced 🚨 Lebanon, already crippled by economic collapse, is facing a humanitarian crisis as over one million people flee their homes. With 80% of the population already living in poverty and the country hosting 1.5 million refugees, the situation is overwhelming. Displaced people desperately need shelter, medical care, education and crucially mental health support, without which families can face worsening trauma, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Our partners are on the ground providing essential mental health and trauma care to displaced people. But the scale of the crisis demands more. With additional support, we can: 🔸Create more trauma-informed safe spaces 🔸Provide mental health care to frontline workers, helping them cope while they continue their critical work 🔸Train more first responders and volunteers to meet the urgent needs of displaced communities Your support can make a difference. Join us in providing critical mental health and trauma care to those in need. When I recently told my network I'd be tapping them up having joined Amna Refugee Healing Network, I really hoped it wouldn't be so soon... Hearts are breaking all over the world. It's devastating. In past few days alone, 1 million people have been displaced in #Lebanon. For people caught in the midst of this crisis, the trauma can be overwhelming with families being torn apart, children exposed to violence and entire communities losing their sense of stability. Without immediate #mentalhealth intervention, there is a risk of worsening anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress. If you're watching on helplessly and wondering what to do, please consider donating to Amna Refugee Healing Network so that they can scale up their vital, heart-healing work. https://lnkd.in/eCavx6yr With all my gratitude 🙏
