Transforming lives through clean energy

About us

Renewable World, a registered international non-profit organisation, works in East Africa, South Asia and Central America to tackle poverty through the provision of affordable renewable energy in remote, off-grid settings. The organisation focuses on working with the 'poorest of the poor', i.e. with communities who presently cannot afford or are not serviced by private energy providers, and for whom a lack of energy is a serious impediment to economic and social development. Renewable World's unique relationship with the Renewable Energy industry allows it to leverage funds, skills, expertise and resources to support and develop its work. Over 1.3 billion people cannot access electricity. Indoor pollution from paraffin, wood, grass or animal dung used for lighting and heating kills nearly two million people every year, mainly women and children. Renewable World's work transforms lives.

To celebrate International Day of Clean Energy last weekend, our Country Director in Nepal, Thakur Thapa attended a national-level summit hosted by the Alternate Energy Promotion Centre. The summit, titled 'Energy Transition: Towards Achieving Net Zero and a Resilient Economy,' focused on discussing investment opportunities, sharing experiences and developing strategies for accelerating the clean energy transition in Nepal. The event was attended by the Minister for Energy and Water Resources who was the chief guest of the program, as well as key clean energy stakeholders and donors who have been contributing to the sector. Thakur presented on the topic - 'Powering People and Planet through Clean Energy - evidence from the fieldwork' You can see a recording online of the summit (skip to 53 minutes in to see Thakur speaking about the work that we do and its impact): https://lnkd.in/dAZ8tSyM

Double your donation today! Can you help us reach our £40,000 target before our @biggiveorg campaign closes at midday next Tuesday!? Poor energy access means simple health problems can escalate quickly and become life-threatening for marginalised communities in Nepal who rely on these facilities. If we reach our target, by December 2025, we will install solar energy systems, alongside refrigeration and other energy-enabled equipment in a further 7 rural facilities where there is an urgent need. We will do this in partnership with local government partners and health staff to ensure the systems' long-term sustainability. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far, we are so grateful for your generous donations. 💛💚 https://lnkd.in/eXQ5_n3b
