Rising up to the challenge – how can digital innovation shape the future of the wind industry? Wind energy is key to achieving a #ZeroCarbon future. Alongside scaling up deployment, we must think smarter, using digital innovation to optimise the global wind fleet. In our latest blog, we explore how data trends from RES’ analysis reveal that two-thirds of turbines often have opportunities for performance enhancements - with pitch (58%) and yaw (38%) mechanisms as the primary focus areas. We're thrilled to announce that our Elmacık Wind Power Plant (WPP) project in Türkiye has been officially granted its Generation Licence by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) - a significant milestone for the project! Located in Kırklareli, this 70MW wind farm will feature 12 turbines and generate 305GWh of clean energy annually. Elmacık WPP will contribute to Türkiye's National Energy Plan, which aims to boost the share of renewable energy to 45.7% by 2026. Additionally, the project will bring substantial local benefits, creating up to 80 jobs during construction and 10 permanent roles once operational. At the BloombergNEF Summit in London this week, our CEO for EMEA & APAC, Marco Perona, took part in a vital discussion on one of the key challenges facing the energy transition: how to balance the growing demand for renewable energy with the need to protect nature and maintain land for food production.   The panel brought together diverse perspectives from energy, agriculture, and natural capital, emphasising the importance of collaboration across sectors. The path forward involves navigating permitting challenges and working closely with communities to ensure sustainable, nature-positive solutions.   We remain committed to delivering renewable energy projects that not only support the transition but also respect the natural environment and contribute to local economies. By working together, we can unlock the potential of renewable energy and also safeguard biodiversity. We are delighted that TagEnergy’s Lakeside battery energy storage system has been fully energised and connected to the grid!   RES initially developed the 100MW/200MWh energy park, which is now the largest transmission-connected BESS in the UK&I. Following the acquisition of the project by TagEnergy, we have continued our partnership providing support during HV commissioning as well as ongoing services under the asset management agreement. Our portfolio of BESS supported projects now exceeds 680MW and is growing fast!   Together with our customers, we’re committed to using our innovative energy storage solutions to power flexible ways to facilitate clean energy.   📰 Read the press release: https://bit.ly/4gRaltX   #EnergyStorage #Renewables #TogetherWeCan #AssetManagement

We were pleased to join hydrogen professionals from across the globe in Copenhagen this week for #WorldHydrogenWeek.   Feifei Peng, EMEA Hydrogen Commercial Director, joined a panel exploring key insights and commercial challenges in scaling up affordable low-carbon hydrogen solutions across different regions, such as our development of two hydrogen plants in Ånge municipality, which will produce 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen for a range of off takers throughout Sweden.   Representing HYRO, a joint venture between RES and Octopus Energy Generation aiming to decarbonise energy-intensive industrial businesses by developing #greenhydrogen projects, Tracy Scott RES' Development Director for Green Hydrogen, gave an update on the progress of HYRO's Northfleet project, one of the 11 successful projects in the UK government's first green hydrogen subsidy allocation.   #WHW24 #WorldHydrogenWeek #PowerForGood #TogetherWeCan World Hydrogen Leaders

Many wind farms around the world are falling short of their full potential in annual energy production. But by harnessing data and advanced analytics, we can unlock untapped efficiencies and maximise their output.   Arun Narayanan, CEO Digital Solutions spoke about this opportunity earlier this week at Energy Transition Europe 2024 in London, by Reuters Events   Using tools such as drone data capture and AI-driven insights, we can transform raw data into tangible actions that push renewable assets to perform better. It's not just about gathering data—it's about creating a modern architecture that drives confident decisions and delivers real results on the ground.   As the industry adopts digital transformation, we are moving closer to realising wind farms that deliver on their promise of clean, sustainable energy at scale. Underperformance can now be turned into opportunity—because when we optimise assets, we power a better, more sustainable future for all.   Visit our website to learn how our digital products and services are optimising the performance of renewable assets around the world - https://lnkd.in/eqsti6Cx #RenewableEnergy #WindPower

Stanwell Corporation Limited has signed an historic deal to acquire RES' Tarong West Wind Farm in Queensland, now Australia’s largest publicly owned wind farm. Queenslanders will own 100 per cent of the project and the clean energy it will produce. The Tarong West Wind Farm project, located in South Burnett, will realise significant economic benefits for Queenslanders, including around 200 construction jobs and hundreds more indirect jobs as well as 15 operational jobs. The project will feature 97 wind turbines and produce enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 230,000 homes. Matt Rebbeck, CEO of RES in Australia commented: “RES is committed to continuing to work with key project stakeholders including the local community, landowners and traditional owners prior to the commencement of construction. We welcome Stanwell’s involvement in the project as we work to achieve a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Queensland.” Link to the full release is in the comments. #PowerforGood #AustralianRenewables #QueenslandRenewables

As part of our activity this week at WindEnergy Hamburg, we’re proud to be part of the Team Norway Pavilion, supported by Innovation Norway, the Norwegian Government’s key instrument for the development of Norwegian enterprises and industry.   RES is part of the Siravind consortium, whose objective is to develop 6 GW of floating offshore wind off the Norwegian coast by 2040. Our Managing Director for Norway, Eli Wærum Rognerud, has been meeting with clients and networking as facilitated by the Norwegian government’s official trade agency. Yesterday Eli joined Ian Griggs of Windpower Monthly for a podcast discussing the pressing challenges facing the wind industry. In the conversation, Eli emphasised the importance of prioritising nature and the environment, while ensuring society and policymakers are part of the transition journey. If you are attending #WindEnergyHamburg this week, the RES lounge can be found in Hall A1 - do stop by for a coffee and chat. 🎧 Stay tuned to hear the Windpower Monthly podcast in full soon.
