  • At RESTORE we are fortunate to meet, and work with, a diverse range of exciting and inspiring individuals, companies and organisations who help us further our mission of restoring nature across the UK at pace and at scale. It gives us great pleasure to announce that in 2025 we have once again committed to being a partner at the Blue Earth Summit, which is shaping up to be even more impactful event than ever before. 🌍 Benedict Macdonald, Found & Director of RESTORE sums it up: “RESTORE’s partnership with the Blue Earth Summit represents everything we are striving for as a nature restoration business: connecting ecological restoration and natural capital to investors and making nature’s recovery an irresistible and attractive asset class.  Last year’s event saw a powerful fusion of NGOs, investors, landowners and environmentalists all sharing the same space, swapping ideas and building partnerships. This breaking down of barriers is essential for nature’s recovery, and it is great to see Blue Earth summit leading the way.” The Blue Earth Summit is being held once again in London on 15-17th October 2025. Tickets are available at https://lnkd.in/ejsjTMxu and RESTORE will be there leading the conversation on how businesses, investors, and landowners can unlock the true value of restoring ecosystems. 🐛 🦋 🌿 #environment #nature #naturerestoration #restorenature #finance #naturalcapital #biodiversity

Commercial and Natural Capital Director | RESTORE | Ecological Ambition | Natural Capital as a Catalyst for Change | Nature Connection

Nature needs a brooding Italian super sub more than ever! As we stand on the brink of complete nature collapse, there is another path emerging fast... One in which the opportunity lies not within the exploitation and consumption of nature's finite resources and services, but within the ambitious restoration and preservation of healthy natural systems. Our version of a last minute winner may well be the mobilisations of billions of pounds of institutional investment into the natural systems that sustain us. #naturalcapital #nbs #natureasanassetclass #naturebasedsolutions #sustainablefinance

"It is the move to making landscape restoration 'profitable' that I think provides the opportunity for hope. We have so much to do, so far to travel, so much to change, and such little time in which to do so, that I see no realistic way of achieving the required momentum without the creation of a commercial incentive to do so. If the nature crisis was a football match, we would be 2 nil down and deep in extra time, and Natural Capital is our brooding Italian super sub. So, although the phrase Natural Capital may seem a little blunt or even counter to the values of nature for nature’s sake, it represents a genuine opportunity to put nature at the forefront of all that we do and all that we are, right where it belongs." 🌳 💸 🌄 Read the full article by our Commercial and Natural Capital Director, Gil Martin here: https://lnkd.in/e_cXcTS5 #naturalcapital #rewilding #environment #nature #investment #naturerestoration #restorenature #finance #greenfinance

"Specialists in nature restoration can’t be everywhere all the time, and therefore we must lean into communication tools. Effective communication tools help us to bridge different spaces, engage different perspectives and present a compelling vision for the recovery of ecological complexity. Constantly, as practitioners of nature recovery, we must speak with land managers, clients, and external stakeholders, justify decision making, and be able to rationalise and quantify routes to achieve more complex situations that allow nature to rebuild.   Land App is an exemplar tool for rapid fire interrogation of a site, and a thread that links us directly to multiple stakeholders and integrates with other technological advancements in land management and mapping systems. We can use it to discuss sites remotely and contemplate changes to a site, almost as if we are around the table together." 🧑💻 🗺️ 🔎 Read the full article by Andrew Scoon, our Ecological Land Manager, here: https://lnkd.in/d-qX-Bhp Email info@restorenature.com if you would like to find out more about the work of RESTORE and the services we offer. #LandApp #naturerestoration #rewilding #maps #mapping #landmanagement #nature #environment #land

  • "After months of legal battles led by Client Earth, the European Court of Justice ruled that the logging was illegal and imposed heavy financial penalties on the Polish government. The harvesters eventually left the forest, ensuring the safety of this precious habitat and its incredible wildlife. This victory was the result of incredible dedication by thousands of people - and I believe communication and evocative storytelling played a pivotal role in that success. The same principle applies to nature restoration, including rewilding. Effective communication can present the movement in a public-friendly way, inspire enthusiasm and confidence in the cause, help projects achieve their goals, and foster trust among different stakeholders - allowing for more effective collaboration. As Sir David Attenborough once said, saving the planet is now a communications challenge. " 🌳 💬 🗣️ 📺 Read the full article by our Communications Manager, Agata Rucin in celebration of the #WorldWildlifeDay here: https://lnkd.in/erRPKz2b #rewilding #naturerestoration #restorenature #nature #environment #conservation #wildlife #communication #storytelling

We’re thrilled to hear that the government will be granting licenses for beaver reintroductions across the country. Beavers are incredible ecosystem engineers — creating wetlands, boosting biodiversity, and even helping to mitigate flooding. At RESTORE, we’ve already seen the astonishing impact of beavers transforming landscapes for some of our clients, such as the Hamatethy Farm on Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, and we’re especially excited for the imminent releases happening soon at Southill Estate. It’s a huge win for wildlife, climate resilience, and the future of our waterways! #beavers #rewilding #naturerestoration #ecosystemengineers #rewildingbritain #restorenature #wetlands #waterways #nature #environment

  • When we talk about nature restoration in the UK, discussions about food security often follow, with concerns naturally centring around livelihoods, decline in self-reliance and how to compete with low-cost imports. Whilst food security is essential, when we break down land use across the country, and analyse the way in which much of our food is produced, we can start to build a different picture of how food production and nature restoration can, and must, sit hand in hand. True, long-term food security - and the economic health and societal resilience that this brings, can only be built on a functioning, biodiverse natural environment. Benedict Macdonald, Founder and Director of Restore, talks at length with Rob Wreglesworth on this topic, and looks at Britain's complex history with nature and how centuries of wildlife removal have shaped our landscapes. • Nature and farming have always been intrinsically linked. Traditional farming practices promoted soil health and allowed biodiversity to thrive in abundance, supporting crop pollination, mitigating against soil erosion and flooding, and enhancing the quality of our waterways. In more recent years however, driven in large part by the policy-led intensification of farming, a disconnect has occurred, with one in ten species now threatened with extinction in the UK. Recognising the need to make more space for wildlife, and understanding the importance of the special connections between food production and nature, thousands of farmers have already started to integrate simple measures to boost biodiversity on their land. At RESTORE, we work tirelessly to support more farmers and help them achieve their ambitions to develop nature-focussed, economically thriving businesses. During his recent talk at the FWAG South West regional conference, our Founder, Benedict Macdonald outlined just how this is possible, and how rapidly developing green finance schemes are able to support these changes. • At RESTORE we look to inspire our clients with a vision of what their land could look like if nature is allowed the space and time to flourish. We look to the past; paintings, photos, poems and text, as well as the scientific evidence, which detail how our landscape once looked. We show them examples from Eastern Europe, where old systems of farming remain, and wildlife exists in abundance alongside human activity. We use maps and drawings to show them the vision of their land in 30, 50 or even 100 years’ time so that they can picture their legacy. We help create a picture by looking at projects already underway. One source of inspiration may however surprise you. Watch this clip of Benedict Macdonald, RESTORE’s Founder and Director, talking about the often-overlooked pockets of land that can be more biodiverse and abundant than some of our local nature reserves. Industrial processes, rather than large herbivores, may be the ecosystem engineers on many brownfield sites, but these sites can still provide fascinating glimpses of the ecological complexity and dynamism that could unfold across our countryside if nature is once again allowed the space to flourish.
