🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 One of our Pathways Forward Pledges was to expand our Pathways to Scale programme offering this year, and we're delighted to make that happen! We're thrilled to announce that 14 more female founders have joined the Pathways to Scale community! 🎉 These inspiring women are leading dynamic companies across key industries, and we're so excited to support them on their journey to scale. The Pathways to Scale programme provides training in entrepreneurial leadership, strategic finance and sales, advanced pitching coaching as well as a collaborative network that empowers women to scale their businesses. 💡 What’s next? Next week, these amazing founders will head off to our 2-day Pathways to Scale Leaders Retreat and then undergo a programme of masterclasses, culminating in a Showcase next year, where they will pitch their businesses alongside their fellow cohort members. We can’t wait to see what they achieve next and are proud to welcome them into our growing network of female leaders. 💪 A huge thank you to our delivery partners, and supporters who help make this programme possible. A new Funding Accelerator programme has been launched to help Scottish startups secure investment, with a programme delivered by CodeBase-run Techscaler in partnership with Focused For Business. The 3-month Funding Accelerator programme is designed for startups looking to raise their first or second rounds of equity investment, in the £100,000 to £1 million range. Research indicates that while early-stage startup funding in the UK dropped by only 7 per cent in Q1 of 2024 against Q4 of 2023, the year-on-year quarterly decline was closer to 25 per cent. Lauren Wilson, Scaleup Programme Manager at CodeBase, said: “Scotland’s tech startup scene is going from strength to strength, but getting early-stage funding can feel like a major uphill battle. It is also time consuming and can take founders away from running the business. So, we want to give them the knowledge, tools and networks to navigate the investor community, with a view to giving them the best chance of success.” Founders and executives on the pilot programme will be exposed to areas including valuation and financial planning, investor engagement, pitching, building ‘data rooms’ for investors, maximising advisory services, through to negotiating and closing deals. The first Funding Accelerator cohort numbers 10 startups - Seeker, 20 Photos, Practest Global, Rethink Carbon, RAVEN, beEmbedded, Nursery Story, Tax Torch, Afterword, and Unbaggaged - and started earlier this month, running until February next year. Zoë Russell, Co-founder and chief operating officer at Aviemore-based Rethink Carbon, a startup that has developed a technology platform to maximise sustainable land management, said: “As a startup planning to raise investment, Funding Accelerator ticks a lot of boxes for us - specifically the focus on financial forecasting, investor outreach, and understating valuations. We also love the collaborative working environment with other founders and their insights. By the end of the programme, our goal is to finalise a terms sheet with investors.” For more information on Focused for Business and the Funding Accelerator: https://lnkd.in/eqNycEnE and https://lnkd.in/eJdcmCe7

The Building Confidence in Nature Finance Round Table was a prime example of fantastic collaboration. Last week in Stirling, Co-Founder Mark Caulfield joined a diverse group of representatives from 26 organisations with expertise and insights in nature finance. To address the critical need for nature regeneration across the UK, attendees engaged in thorough discussions on the role of nature finance markets in facilitating scalable and impactful change. To unlock this potential, it’s essential for nature finance markets to deliver environmental, social, and economic returns. With this comes a diverse set of stakeholders, highlighting the need for a mutual market framework. We examined the current state of nature finance markets, what is needed to ensure they’re credible and robust, and how to empower those taking action with confidence. Some key takeaways are: - Contrasting views and opposing evidence uncover cracks which may otherwise be hidden. - Our next steps must be realistic in order to achieve larger goals. - It’s essential to work together. A huge thank you to Osbert Lancaster and Morag Watson from Realise Earth for hosting and your patience! The future of Scotland looks bright!

The UK Forestry Standard (#UKFS) is the reference standard for sustainable forest management in the UK. 🌳 From 1 October, the 5th Edition of the UKFS states the majority of forest creation and restocking projects must ensure there is a maximum of 65% of a single species within the area species mix – a decrease from 75%. 🌲 The aim is to encourage forest resilience to minimise disease and pest risk, support biodiversity and mitigate climate change impacts. 🌟 The Rethink Platform has integrated the Woodland Carbon Code and the Ecological Site Classification tool to analyse an area of land for woodland creation. Compare land parcels and woodland scenarios in seconds - all inline with Forestry Research criteria. Read the full article and get in touch 🔗 https://lnkd.in/enrqyzT8
