Therapy through horticulture. Supporting rehabilitation of the most vulnerable adults and children in our community.

About us

Rhubarb Farm CIC is a Social Enterprise, committed to positively influencing the lives of those less fortunate, by engaging with various activities on our farm, based in Langwith. Though our core business will always be therapy through horticulture, we have diversified our activities to incorporate the participation of a varied range of personalities, backgrounds and interests. We provide a support service to the unemployed, recovering drug and alcohol misusers, ex-offenders, young people not in education, employment or training (NEET), excluded school students, people with learning disabilities, people with mental and physical ill health, ex service personnel, and people with dementia. We use the therapeutic organic horticulture model for developing skills, confidence and employability, and for improving health and well-being.

What an amazing and special evening we have had tonight celebrating our volunteers at our Annual Volunteer Celebration Evening. Our volunteers are at the core of everything we do and we appreciate them every day. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield, Jenny and Heather, for their VIP visit and for handing out all the certificates, and for their ongoing support towards our work. Over 100 people attended, despite the damp weather - which just goes to show how important our volunteers are to everyone. Ducks were hooked and pies were cooked (thank you Sally!) and a super evening was had by all. Thank you as always to our dedicated team of staff that have worked so hard for the past few weeks, and all day today, to ensure the evening was perfect. Thank you 🌟

** Funding News** We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £418,547 over the next five years from The National Lottery Community Fund This significant grant will fund our innovative "Buddies Progression Project," which will be vital in helping our volunteers transition to the next stages of their lives. The Buddies Progression Project has been designed to help our volunteers regain confidence, develop new skills, and prepare for future opportunities. Thanks to the funding, we have been able to hire a new member of staff to lead on this work. Rachel Wood joined the team last month as our Partnerships and Communications Manager. With a strong background in marketing, networking and public relations within the third sector, Rachel will forge new connections and partnerships with employers, training providers, and other VCSE groups to create pathways for volunteers to access courses, job opportunities, and further volunteering roles. Rachel Wood expressed her enthusiasm for her new role: "I am thrilled to have joined the amazing team at Rhubarb Farm - an organisation that truly changes lives. The Buddies Progression Project is an incredible initiative that empowers individuals to overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. I am looking forward to engaging with partners to expand our impact and help our volunteers thrive." This funding will ensure that Rhubarb Farm can continue our critical progression work for the next five years, supporting volunteers on their journey to self-improvement and independence. However, our ambitions extend beyond this project, and additional funding is always needed to sustain and expand a variety of initiatives. We would like to invite anyone interested in sponsoring our work or fundraising to get in touch. Together, we can make a life changing difference to the lives of those who need it the most. If any employers, training providers or VCSE organisations would like to work with us on the Progression Project, or anything else, please contact Rachel via rachel@rhubarbfarm.co.uk
