One of Edinburgh’s most beloved historic buildings has undergone major renovation works to create a state-of-the-art teaching space for The University of Edinburgh. In collaboration with Bennetts Associates Architects and main contractors Balfour Beatty plc, the SAS design team developed contemporary grey rafts to seamlessly complement the newly refurbished Edinburgh Futures Institute, formerly known as the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The institute features SAS600 rafts throughout corridors, collaborative spaces, and lecture halls, providing modern acoustic solutions that integrate harmoniously with the institute’s original features. “The forward thinking and system change related solutions being developed by the team at SAS are an example of those urgently needed for a sustainable future. We’re delighted with this partnership and hope it enables many in the market and industry to benefit from the outputs.” - Elina Grigoriou FRSA HonRICS, Chair SKArating Board. Strengthening our ESG strategy, SAS International is now a proud SKArating Gold Partner. It is estimated that 11% of UK construction spending is on fit-outs and that buildings may have 30-40 fit-outs during their life cycle. SKArating assesses a project's performance against over 100 Good Practice Measures (GPMs) across eight areas of sustainability: Energy and CO2, Waste, Water, Pollution, Transport, Materials and Wellbeing.
