We were therefore delighted to celebrate their hard work with the Group Award at this year's Trustees' Awards for Volunteering 🎊 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dfZF5pHb The most recent phase of Cumbernauld Living Landscape was Creating Natural Connections, a partnership between the Scottish Wildlife Trust, North Lanarkshire Council, Sanctuary Scotland, The James Hutton Institute and The Conservation Volunteers, generously funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. 📷 David Meechan

This time last week, we spent the afternoon with the wonderful Saving Scotland's Red Squirrels team at Loch of the Lowes for a special event. After a brilliant talk about red squirrels and the work of the project, the team lead a short guided walk to see what we could spot! A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this year's Great Scottish Squirrel Survey and to those who joined us at Loch of the Lowes. #Scotland #wildlife #redsquirrel

We're delighted to announce that our Riverwoods Blueprint Project is now underway, thanks to generous funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. In good condition, Scotland's river woodlands offer a wealth of benefits such as flood protection, improved water quality and safe homes for our wildlife to thrive. Working alongside our partners, this project will create and restore at least 100ha of this precious habitat, fund and inform future projects, and help people reconnect with their river woodlands. Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/eYMewe4g With thanks to all our partners: Fisheries Management Scotland, The Woodland Trust, Tweed Forum, KYLE OF SUTHERLAND FISHERIES TRUST, Spey Catchment Initiative and Buglife. 📷 Jennifer Porteous

We believe that nature-based solutions are essential in addressing the nature and climate crises, particularly with regards to agriculture. Despite good work by numerous farmers, agriculture has heavily contributed to carbon emissions and biodiversity loss in Scotland. In a new series of blogs, we will share our insights on how nature-based solutions can work to the benefit of people, wildlife and climate.
