🌟 SBHA supporting the next generation in communication skills! 🌟 We are delighted to share that on Tuesday this week SBHA had the opportunity to present at the Communication in the Workplace workshops for S3 English pupils at Earlston High School. It was a great morning of interactive sessions organised by Amy Hamilton, Project Officer/School Coordinator from Developing the Young Workforce Borders. Carole Pritchard, HR Business Partner, and Louise McNeilage, Tenant & Community Engagement Facilitator, were there on behalf of SBHA. The aim was to raise awareness and understanding of how communication is used within the workplace through engagement with employers. In SBHA’s ‘Pitch Perfect’ workshops, the focus was on enhancing presentation skills and building confidence in pitching. These skills are crucial, whether it's for presenting to an employer at interviews for work experience, pitching a new idea in school, or taking on leadership roles in S5/S6 and beyond. It was an excellent morning and fantastic to see the enthusiasm and engagement from the students involved. There were some brilliant and creative presentations, including subjects such as horses, hockey, football, F1, Minecraft, China, toucans, English Teacher Mr Mitchell, and even low fade taper haircuts!! The sessions emphasised the importance of English and the transferable communication skills for any job role in the housing sector. SBHA is proud to be an organisation that values continuous learning and development. Thank you for inviting us Developing the Young Workforce Borders. SBHA and Partners spreading joy this Christmas time! Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) and its partners are spreading festive cheer once again this Christmas, supporting young people across the Scottish Borders with generous donations. This year’s beneficiaries are Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal, Quarriers Resilience for Wellbeing Service, and the 16+ Transitions Project for Care Leavers (in partnership with Scottish Borders Council). As part of our contractor community benefits, SBHA and partners—Jewson Partnership Solutions (East Scotland), Midburn Construction Ltd, Sidey Solutions Ltd, and John O'Conner (Grounds Maintenance) Ltd—plus, Scottish Borders Tenants Organisation (SBTO) made cash donations to these charities totalling £2,100, while SBHA staff contributed a thoughtful box of gifts for Cash for Kids, bringing extra joy to the festive season. https://lnkd.in/eBhxG2qM Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2025!! Terry and Louise from SBHA rolled up their sleeves (metaphorically – as it was so cold!) yesterday to lend a hand at Cash for Kids Mission HQ, teaming up with our friends from Jewson Galashiels, Andy, Andy and Mark, to spread some festive cheer! The mission? Transporting gifts and toys from Tweedbank to Mission Christmas’s new home in Melrose. It was a chilly day, but spirits were high with Cash for Kids Charity Manager Carly and Asda Community Champion Nola diving into the action alongside the incredible full-time volunteers Elizabeth, Sheila, Anne, and Sandy – who kept everyone on track like true pros. The festive fun doesn’t stop there! We’ll be pitching in again throughout the season, and we’ve set up a collection box at SBHA Head Office in Selkirk. If you’d like to share the joy, feel free to drop off your gifts! Or you can donate directly here: https://lnkd.in/eG9jteXp A big shoutout to Mission Christmas – you’re doing amazing work, and we’re thrilled to be part of it! We’re thrilled to share that we’ve been awarded the highly regarded Customer Service Excellence (CSE) accreditation! Customer Service Excellence accreditation is a nationally recognised benchmark of quality, achieved by SBHA following a rigorous independent assessment against 57 criteria across five key areas: customer insight, organisational culture, information and access, delivery, and timeliness and quality of service. SBHA’s strong customer-focused culture was highlighted as a key strength, attaining the highest-level rating of ‘Compliance Plus’ in the elements of using customer insights for service improvement and prioritising customer focus throughout the organisation. Commenting on this achievement, Maria Lyle, SBHA’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are proud to have achieved this accreditation which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team to provide high standards of service to customers. Customer Service Excellence is about more than meeting standards—it’s about embedding a culture of continual improvement and ensuring that Tenants and customers feel valued and supported. "At SBHA, we are strongly committed to putting tenants at the heart of everything we do and do so by listening to tenants, acting on their feedback, and embedding these insights into the core of our services. We are thrilled to receive this recognition and will continue to build on this success to enhance our services further.” Assessment Services Ltd #CustomerServiceExcellence #ScottishBorders

Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) is excited to welcome Tenants to four new homes at Leishman Place in Burnfoot, Hawick. The new properties, comprising two detached four-bedroom homes and two semi-detached three-bedroom homes, are thoughtfully designed with energy efficiency and family-friendly features in mind. Burnfoot has long been a popular area for families, and the new homes, set in an elevated position, benefit from views over Hawick and beyond. Each home has a front and back garden, a driveway, solar panels, EV charger and heating is provided by Air Source Heat Pumps making them environmentally friendly and eliminating reliance on fossil fuels. These homes are a good example of SBHA’s commitment to creating homes that are not only affordable to live in, but also contribute to combating climate change. Emma Garry, SBHA’s Director of Development, commented: “We would like to thank everyone who attended the consultation event at the Burnfoot Community Hub back in Autumn 2022, as well as local residents for their understanding during the construction phase. We really appreciated the support for the development from the community, and the feedback from the consultation event helped shape the final design, particularly the need for larger family homes. We are delighted with the end result and wish the new Tenants at Leishman Place all the best as they settle into their new homes.” SBHA and the JR Group are also building homes at a second site in Burnfoot. The 12 homes at our site at Fairhurst Drive – there are a range of sizes with some of the homes specifically designed for older people and wheelchair users – are progressing well and completion is anticipated early in 2025.
