We had a fantastic time at the Keeping Norfolk’s Legacy event last week! It was great to see so many professional advisers – lawyers, accountants, and financial planners – come together to discuss how we can all help preserve and grow Norfolk’s legacy through philanthropy and charitable giving. The insights shared were truly inspiring, especially around keeping charitable funds within Norfolk to support our local grassroots charities. Norfolk 'n' Proud. I make no secret of the fact that I love this Fine County - Born here, raised here and lucky enough to live work and build a business and my family here. But of course when I post pictures of fun events, of paddleboarding in the sunset, of long walks with the crazy hound, I know that I am one of the lucky ones. That for everyone living a "good life" here, there's someone who is finding it tougher - whether for health reasons, economic reasons, or social reasons. The people of Norfolk are incredible - and Generous - but it transpires that most of the money donated to charity by Norfolk residents goes OUTSIDE Norfolk. Sometimes with good reason of course, but often without the donor realising it won't be used locally, or not knowing HOW to donate, knowing it will be used locally. This applies to legacy gifts, as well as lifetime giving. So seeing so many lawyers, accountants, wealth managers and financial planners at yesterday's Professional Advisor event at The Assembly House, driven by the fabulous Frances Kemp APFS and Norfolk Community Foundation was encouraging for the better future of our county. Claire Cullens MBE reminded us of the ease in which those of us who CAN make a difference, by talking more to our clients about their philanthropic options, really CAN make a difference! And Judy Dow lead a brilliant panel discussion before the packed room continued the conversations over lunch. I'm proud to be from and in Norfolk - a.feeling I know is carried by so many in that room. Let's all help Norfolk keep being the place we know and love.
