Manchester does it again...
1️⃣ Day one of the The Better Business Network Summit at The Manchester Metropolitan University, and what an inspiring and thought-provoking experience it has been!
🤔 The biggest challenge! Planning the day, with so many insightful talks, workshops, catalyst sessions, and the odd panel, it’s nearly impossible to choose.
💪 One standout session was hosted by Impact Reporting ,diving into the complex but fascinating topic of social value measurement. How do we quantify the good that companies do? It turns out, it starts with “passionate nerds” (friendly term used during the session!). These are the experts who deeply understand economics, fiscal measures, and well-being, all three are essential foundations for any meaningful measurement.
Expertly delivered by Catherine Manning & Matt Haworth, and crafted in a way so everyone can take away their own actions.
🃏 Another highlight was an interactive session led by the team at Small99 and Dr Helen Rodgers MEng PhD, who brought sustainability to life through a clever and engaging game. It was a brilliant way to connect the pillars of sustainability and carbon reduction with tangible business objectives, blending fun and teamwork. Their concept is something I’ll definitely be using in the future for stakeholders.
🍌 🐳 And how many days can you say you’ve valued a banana, learned that the value of a whale is $2 million, and gained a clear understanding of how and why we can value business actions, but with a clear need to be careful how we do it.
🔊 A big shoutout to the organising team at the The Better Business Network for an exceptional event, and special recognition to 👩🏻💻Hannah Cox for staying cool under pressure (even during a fire alarm evacuation!) and ensuring the day ran seamlessly.
Jealous of those attending day two.
