  • "For too long, the system has asked survivors to uproot their entire lives while abusers face no consequences. We need to flip that narrative." Through her journey—both personal and professional—Nicki Clarke, Head of Housing, Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, has become a fierce advocate for a survivor-led approach to housing and domestic abuse response. At the core of her work lies a deep belief that housing providers, policymakers, and support services must centre survivors’ voices in every decision they make. Read her most inspiring thought leadership article ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eV597E4b "You can’t have an effective housing response without a Coordinated Community Response (CCR). Housing providers hold crucial insights—like complaints from neighbours about shouting, or erratic rent payments—that other agencies may never see. Yet, too often, they’re left out of the conversation. A true CCR means bringing housing to the table—not just to allocate banding but to truly listen and act in a way that serves survivors best."

  • 📢 Yesterday, our brilliant Director of Housing, Emma Storey, spoke with BBC News for a TV feature on behalf of Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, highlighting the critical role housing plays in keeping survivors safe. The Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA), is part of Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse's Housing team and works to transform the housing sector’s response to domestic abuse. Since 2014, DAHA has led the way by: 🔹 Establishing the UK’s only accreditation for housing providers 🔹 Implementing best-practice standards to protect survivors 🔹 Advancing target-hardening measures and trauma-informed support Safe housing is a lifeline—and we’re proud to champion solutions that help survivors rebuild their lives. 💜 We stand with you. We stand for change. 💜 Stay tuned for when the TV feature is broadcasted, and more updates on our work—because together, we can end domestic abuse.

  • 📢 Protecting Young People: Education, Regulation & Community Action Adolescence shapes futures. Yet, too many young people are being influenced by harmful online content, toxic ideologies, and a lack of safe spaces to learn about healthy relationships. Read our full statement here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWCkZ_Fn At Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse, we believe prevention is key. Ending domestic abuse starts with: ✅ Education—teaching healthy relationships & challenging harmful narratives ✅ Regulation—holding tech platforms accountable for dangerous content ✅ Community Action—ensuring agencies work together through a Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Education alone is not enough. • 🔴 Domestic Abuse is Stealing Lives—We Need Urgent Action 262 lives lost. 98 suspected suicides linked to domestic abuse 💔 For the second year in a row, more victims have died by suicide than by intimate partner homicide (https://lnkd.in/etF7rV3h). This is not just about physical violence—it’s about control, coercion, and the unbearable isolation that leaves victims feeling there is no escape. Read our full statement👉 https://lnkd.in/e-nYpesD "To every family mourning a loved one lost to domestic abuse—our deepest condolences are with you. Your loss is not just a statistic. It is a call to action. We owe it to every victim, every survivor, and every future generation to turn this moment into real, lasting change." – Cherryl Henry-Leach, CEO, Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse Suicides linked to domestic abuse are preventable deaths, not private tragedies. We need a Coordinated Community Response where police, healthcare, housing, and specialist DA services work together to stop victims from falling through the cracks. Every agency must act. Every door must be open. #DomesticAbuse #SuicidePrevention #CoerciveControl #WeWillNotIgnore

  • 📢 The Assisted Dying Bill just got stronger for survivors. Domestic abuse survivors just secured a critical victory. Thanks to amendments by Kim Leadbeater MP and Jess Asato MP—backed by Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse’s advocacy—the Assisted Dying Bill now includes mandatory safeguards against coercion and abuse: ✅ Doctors must be trained to spot domestic abuse & financial control. ✅ Survivors are better protected from pressure in end-of-life decisions. ✅ Our collective voice has put survivor safety at the heart of law. Cherryl Henry-Leach, Standing Together's CEO shares: "Abuse escalates when victims are vulnerable. We will continue pushing for stronger safeguards to ensure this Bill does not create new risks for victims of abuse." #AssistedDyingBill #DomesticAbuse #CoerciveControl #SurvivorSafety #EndDomesticAbuse #PolicyChange

  • The Women at the Heart of Housing First: It’s Time for National Action Today, we marked five years of the Westminster VAWG Housing First Project—a model that has transformed lives, provided lasting safety, and proven that gender-responsive housing works. This work would not be possible without Westminster City Council, Solace Women's Aid, our dedicated housing providers, and Standing Together’s Housing First team. A special thank you to Minister Rushanara A. MP for her powerful message of support, recognising the impact of this programme and the need for wider action. 🔗 Read the full CEO statement & access the Impact Report: https://lnkd.in/enpCuAzR 🏡 95% of women housed through this project over five years have remained in their homes. 🏡 90% tenancy sustainment for women impacted by abuse and long-term homelessness. 🏡 Real change happens when housing and specialist support come together. At the centre of this work are the survivors whose resilience pushes us to do more. But we cannot stop here. Women’s homelessness has been invisible in data, policy, and services for too long.
