*New Specialised Inspection Technique for Ring-Type-Joints (RTJs)* At Sonomatic, we’re always pushing the boundaries of Specialised Inspection services. While significant advancements have been made in inspecting in-service flanges, one crucial component often overlooked until failure occurs is the flange sealing ring, or Ring-Type-Joint (RTJ). The RTJ is critical in maintaining the integrity of pressure systems, and using the wrong material can lead to sacrificial degradation and failure of the pressure envelope. Even under normal conditions, RTJs can suffer from erosion and corrosion, making it essential to understand their integrity as much as the flanges and associated pipework. With our extensive experience and market-leading specialised technique development, Sonomatic has now introduced an innovative method for inspecting RTJs in-situ, without the need to isolate or shutdown the plant. This allows us to determine the material type and identify internal degradation threats, ensuring the safe operation of pressure systems. This latest addition to Sonomatic’s Specialised Inspection services, enhances our comprehensive inspection package, providing unparalleled value and safety for our clients. At The West African Energy Summit, Graham Marshall, representing Sonomatic Limited, shared insights into the company’s ultrasonic inspection services and subsea ROV-deployed technologies. As this was their first visit to Ghana, it provided a valuable opportunity to meet local clients face-to-face and address integrity issues specific to deepwater applications. Sonomatic recently completed inspection work for Tullow Oil with support from their local partner, Fortress Ghana. They are now focused on knowledge transfer, local content development, and expanding their footprint by reaching out to additional clients across West Africa. Looking ahead, Sonomatic is considering establishing a local office to further enhance its service offerings in the region, including Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. *Sonomatic supports ExxonMobil Guyana in achieving the first robotic Flex Joint inspection in Guyana* Sonomatic is thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the field of robotic offshore oil and gas inspections. In collaboration with ExxonMobil Guyana, Sonomatic has successfully completed the first-ever robotic Flex Joint inspection in Guyana, using our state-of-the-art E-CAP Stingray robotic crawler. This project involved the cleaning and 3D photogrammetry of a Flex Joint on ExxonMobil Guyana’s Liza Destiny FPSO. Despite challenging metocean conditions, the inspection was executed entirely through remote robotic methods, demonstrating the potential of advanced robotics to enhance safety and efficiency in offshore operations. ExxonMobil Guyana's dedication to safety and operational excellence was integral to the success of this project.
