It's INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (MARCH 8) and our Women@Work Network are hosting a Chai and Chat drop is session for colleagues. The session aims to raise vital funds for Thrive, a domestic abuse counselling service, with a short mindfulness and breathing workshop, Thrive, part of the Fresh Visions charity provides trauma-informed counselling to those who’ve experienced domestic abuse within the local community and women’s refuges across #Kent. Ashleigh Boxhall, Thrive Senior Counsellor, said: “Thrive are a team of women supporting women. We’ve a mainly female client group who we’re helping to recover from the impact of Domestic Abuse. We know that violence against women and girls is a national emergency. The National Police Chiefs’ Council and College of Policing report 2024 said ‘3,000 crimes of violence against women and girls (VAWG) are recorded each day, with at least 1 in 12 women becoming victims each year’. Councillors updated on regeneration of estate in Stoke Newington On Tuesday, we welcomed three Hackney Councillors to our Kennaway Estate in Stoke Newington. @Councillors Etti (Cabinet Member for Homelessness Prevention, Rough Sleeping and Temporary Accommodation), Baffour (Clissold Ward Councillor) and Premru (Clissold Ward Councillor) visited to find out more about our regeneration of the estate. This involves the demolition of Taverner House (one of four residential blocks formerly comprising the estate) and its replacement with three new buildings ranging from three to seven storeys in height.
