Last night, we celebrated with some of our colleagues who have worked at Peabody for over 30 years. Collectively their experience adds up to 1,500 years! A huge thank you for your hard work, commitment and contributions. It was great to hear everyone's favourite memories and experiences at Peabody – here's to many more.

Fantastic to receive unanimous support from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s planning committee last week for the final phase of the regeneration of Wornington Green. My thanks to everyone involved in the application for their hard work and efforts. This transformative project will complete our regeneration of the estate, and includes a landmark new community centre alongside up to 208 social rent homes. https://lnkd.in/eyd3wTHT

We are looking to recruit a third resident Board Member to help shape and influence decisions about our homes, services and communities. We’re looking for a Peabody social housing resident who isn't a shared owner or leaseholder, as the Board already includes members from those groups. We’re a step closer to completing the first stage of a development that will bring 995 much-needed new homes - 60% of which will be affordable housing - to South Tottenham. North Gate Park is being built in partnership with The Hill Group on the site of the former St Ann’s Hospital. The development will include a children’s play area, new green spaces and a safe cycle route. The first 240 homes are due to be ready this summer. Find out more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ecDGWmH8

Marking International Women’s Day (IWD) with Poornima Kirloskar-Saini ♀️⬇️ With support from the Peabody Community Foundation, Poornima founded Kundakala to empower women from under-represented communities. Through her programmes, she teaches tailoring and upcycling skills, helping women gain financial independence and boosting their confidence. Kundakala's Make and Mend and Upcycle projects are held at our Pembury Community Centre in Hackney and Stamford Street in Lambeth. Women enrol in a six-month programme, starting with the basics of sewing and progressing to creating their own clothing. After completing the course, everyone receives a sewing machine to support their continued journey. Graduates can then join the Kundakala Collective, which helps them launch their own businesses. Poornima said: “IWD is important, but celebrating women shouldn’t be limited to just one day - it should happen all year round. We’re working with Higgins Partnerships, Lendlease, Greater London Authority and Lewisham Council to build 189 affordable, energy efficient homes in South East London. Set to be completed by autumn 2026, these homes are:  - Passivhaus certified – designed to stay warm in winter and cool in summer helping keep energy bills low for residents  - 100% affordable – available for social rent and shared ownership  - Linked to green spaces, including a shared courtyard and rooftop terraces   These homes are taking shape and we look forward to welcoming residents next year. 🏡 Read more ➡️https://lnkd.in/eSCw3BP4 #SustainablePeabody

Job fair at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club stadium was a success, attracting a notable crowd of 600 individuals. The collaboration with Hill Group UK's apprentice, Brianna Morgan, and the amazing Peabody client team, including Cécile-Agathe Bouchet, George Murphy, and Caroline Seery, engaged with 160 local residents, with plans to follow up with 118 of them. Working alongside this exceptional client team was a gratifying experience, setting the stage for future collaborations to drive significant social impact. At the event we highlighted and promoted various job opportunities with Peabody and Hill Group UK, focusing on roles at Hill Group UK's St Ann's site, such as apprenticeships in carpentry, electricians, plumbers, and scaffolders. Our supply chain is actively seeking individuals with the necessary skills to support us in meeting our Section 106 targets. Prospective candidates must have a CSCS Card and be residents of Haringey Council. Last week we invited 20 students from University of Greenwich to mark Careers Week, offering them career guidance and a behind-the-scenes look at careers in social housing. The students explored roles that help our residents, such as community support, communications and employment services. Through interactive workshops, they tackled real-world challenges - developing ideas for community projects, identifying ways to better communicate with residents and brainstorming how we can support people to find work in our communities. We ended the day with a Q&A session, where our colleagues shared their career journeys, helping students to explore different paths open to them.
