How can brands create authentic connection with people in a post-digital world? Space Doctors Project Director, Kira Collins, shares her quick perspective on the power of language in shaping shared experiences. Read her thoughts below 👇 At Space Doctors, we help brands nurture these co-creative spaces. By tuning into the cultural codes and signals that audiences resonate with—through language, symbols, or rituals—we guide brands toward deeper, more meaningful relationships. If you’d like to discuss how these connections might come to life for your brand, reach out to Gareth Lewis or Cato Hunt 🚀 #culturalstrategy #semiotics #foresight #culture
In a post-digital world, brands looking to build authentic connections with their audiences can learn a lot from Codenames. The game by Vlaada Chvátil is a perfect example of how meaning is co-created, relying on shared understanding and cultural cues between players. Simply saying the right word isn’t enough. Players must rely on the deeper, often unspoken, connections that people make. In Codenames, the simplicity of words masks a much deeper layer of associations, where even a single word can conjure different meanings for different players based on their unique perspectives. This speaks directly to how brands communicate today. Rather than simply delivering a message, brands need to create spaces where meaning evolves through collaboration. Audiences bring their own cultural contexts, experiences, and interpretations, and it’s through this exchange and negotiation of meaning that genuine connections emerge. For brands, this means creating meaningful, yet ever-evolving relationships that foster a deeper sense of understanding and trust. Check out the article in the comments to see how the Codenames board game shapes player meanings and relationships ⬇️
