Breaking Barriers and Learning from Legends Sport and Recreation Alliance Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Networking Event. Tonight’s event was all about sharing insights on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) while making meaningful connections. We had the opportunity to talk about our NICAS Ascend crowdfunder and learn from other inspiring initiatives. It was great to hear from keynote speaker Viveen Taylor, director of EDI at Sport England. We enjoyed connecting with Weininger Irwin, the first-ever Gladiators champion and a driving force in sports and beyond. Great to discuss similarities with his initiative Cool Rowings and our own aims to enable and unlock activity for all for our sports. It was also great to connect with Deana Morris from British Wheel of Yoga. As always, it was fantastic to see El Temple from the Association of British Climbing Walls also representing climbing and our EDI work in the sector. Insightful conversations, valuable lessons, and a strong reminder that inclusion isn’t just a goal—it’s the way forward. A huge thank you to SRA’s corporate partners, Admincontrol for hosting. Who else has been inspired by leaders like this in their EDI journey? Let’s keep the conversation going! #NICASclimbing #EDI #BreakingBarriers #Gladiators #EqualityDiversityAndInclusion Abbi Blakey

Bringing EDI and Governance Professionals Together Last night, we hosted an inspiring Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Networking Event, with our governance partners, Admincontrol. It was fantastic to bring together leaders, professionals, and advocates from across the sector to share experiences, exchange ideas, and explore meaningful collaboration. The event provided a valuable space for open discussions on the evolving role of EDI and governance, the challenges organisations face, and the opportunities we have to drive real impact. A special thank you to our keynote speaker, Viveen Taylor, Director of EDI at Sport England, whose insights into the latest trends and challenges in EDI and governance were both thought-provoking and inspiring. One of the key messages she shared was: “the future of our sector depends on the choices we make today”. This event reinforced the importance of embedding EDI into every level, ensuring that diversity, inclusion, and equity are not just values we discuss but principles we all actively integrate into decision-making at all levels. A big thank you to the team at Admincontrol for hosting us at your offices and providing refreshments throughout the evening. We appreciate the continued support you provide the Sport and Recreation Alliance. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their perspectives, and contributed to such an engaging and meaningful evening. Your commitment to fostering positive change is what makes events like this so impactful. After receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback, we will look to create more engaging opportunities in the future. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations and working together to shape a more inclusive future.
