Seeing is believing💕 Our latest research shows that the recent Olympics have inspired two-thirds of girls to be more active, highlighting the importance of visibility and representation in sport. What inspired girls at the Paris Olympics? 🏃♀️ Athleticism and skill (84%) 💪 Resilience, determination and overcoming adversity (80%) 🌍 Seeing people from different countries united through sports (78%) ⚖ Equal visibility of female and male athletes (78%) Interestingly, when we asked boys the same questions, they were less likely to be inspired by the equal visibility of female and male athletes, showing that girls are deeply aware that sport hasn’t always been welcoming of them, but is changing. • One week to go to submit evidence to the Game On: Community and School Sport inquiry. This is a big opportunity to influence the future and we strongly encourage engagement with the process.

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee is inviting evidence for the inquiry, 'Game On: Community and School Sport'. Responses are welcomed until January 12 (2025), and we encourage the delivery network to engage. https://lnkd.in/eJpRMeHp The inquiry will examine: - The health of sport in local communities and schools, and whether more can be done to sustain and grow opportunities for all.   - The funding available for sport in the community. - How volunteers can be better supported. - How to open up grassroots sport to under-represented groups.  - The role of schools in delivering sporting opportunities both in and outside of school hours. - How children can be supported to develop a positive life-long relationship with physical activity. - The ways in which national and local government, clubs, sports organisations and sports governing bodies can work together to improve the delivery of school and grassroots sport.   Chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, Dame Caroline Dinenage, said: “Taking part in sport and physical activity is tremendously valuable both for our health andwell-being and our communities. With alarm bells ringing about disappearing facilities and declining participation, we’re firing the starting gun on an inquiry into what more can be done to ensure sporting opportunities exist for all, from playground to pitch.” Full information on the scope of the inquiry can be found here https://lnkd.in/eyN7SeQp
