Two-time World Junior Cross Triathlon Champion Isla Hedley started her 2025 a little different to most. Avoiding the cold and dark January days in Scotland, she headed out to Aguilas for her first-ever training camp with the National Triathlon Centre. As Isla continues to progress through her sport and make a name for herself in the triathlon world, her training is ramping up. We sat down with the 19-year-old triathlete and this month’s athlete partner to chat through her journey, find out how she balances her sport with studies and ask where she’s headed next. 📣We are delighted to join forces with Age Scotland, SAMH, and Sporting Memories to bring you phase 2 of the Find Your Team campaign. Taking part in sport and physical activity, at any age, is a great way to connect with new people and for those over 50, joining a team or club can create a sense of belonging and help to tackle feelings of isolation. TV and radio presenter Bryan Burnett found his team at Bellahouston Road Runners and is encouraging others to get out and active and #FeelPartofSomething. So, whether you’re looking to return to a hobby you once loved or try something entirely new, there is a team out there for you! 👉Head over to the campaign website to read more, access the campaign toolkit and spread the word: https://lnkd.in/enjkRyFn

📣We are in the process of setting our Equality Outcomes for 2025-29 which will build on the work of the 2021-25 outcomes. As part of our public sector equality duties, equality outcomes play an important role in testing new ideas to reach some of the most excluded groups in our society. As we move into this next stage, we need to sense-check that the 2021-25 outcomes and focus groups are still relevant and want to hear from people with a variety of life and personal experiences. Scottish Sport Awards 2024! 💙 A few weeks ago I got to attend the Scottish Sport Awards in Glasgow with the sportscotland Young People Sports Panel! This was my last event as a member of the panel and what a way it was to finish off the two years and it was a pleasure to spend the night with Faatima Zahra Gardee! After such a big year of sport with the Olympics and Paralympics taking place in the summer, I loved being part of the celebrations! The day before the awards I had posted a picture of myself with Sammi Kinghorn to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Little did I know that the very next day I would get to meet her again! We of course had to use the opportunity to recreate the picture 9 years on!! Faatima and I also had the privilege to speak to Dame Katherine Grainger and we loved being able to share a little bit about our time on the YPSP and why we are so passionate about valuing and empowering the voice of young people in sport! Well done to all the winners and nominees! It’s lovely to see your successes and hard work celebrated! Your journeys in sport are inspiring to so many!
