Non-profit Organizations
Preventing Youth Homelessness across the West Midlands region since 1972.
About us
St Basils works with young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping over 4000 young people per year across the West Midlands region with specific services in Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, Worcestershire, the Wyre Forest, Coventry and Warwickshire. Ever year over 1200 young people are housed in our 29 supported accommodation schemes, which for some young people includes their young children as well. We have a range of prevention, accommodation and support services to help young people regain the stability they need to rebuild their lives, gain skills, training and employment and move on. The aim is to help them successfully break the cycle of homelessness so that they can go on to experience a bright, fulfilling future and never return to a state where they are at risk of homelessness again. St Basils also works with young people and partners on a national basis (funded separately). We facilitate the National Youth Reference Group and the Youth Homeless Parliament, we are part of the national End Youth Homelessness Alliance and we are working to roll out our 'Positive Pathway' model nationwide.

Hooray for Keon Homes Limited who completed the Tough Mudder in aid of St Basils on the weekend! Incredibly, one of the party rolled her ankle not once, but twice, and still managed to complete the challenge, showing the pure determination and atmosphere involved at the event. A huge thank you to all those who took part in the notoriously muddy event, where an incredible £2k+ was raised by Keon Homes for our young people.

A massive St Basils thank you to all at the Knowle Fun Day yesterday! The rain was brief, and the sun and smiles were out😁 Pictured (2) is Norman Smith, a former member of the Double Zero motorcycle club back when our founder Les Milner started St Basils. Norman remembers when the first young people started using our service 👏 A special thanks to #KnowleandDorridgeRoundTable

Our Live & Work accommodation in Sandwell offers young people aged 18-25, oftentimes who have experienced homelessness, the opportunity to access high-quality, low-cost housing for up to 2-years, helping them work towards independence in employment and housing without the growing pressure of ever-rising rents. #UKHousingAwards2024

We were proud to contribute to #NoAccessNoWayOut, a powerful report by Commonweal Housing highlighting the harsh realities of the PRS for single homeless people. From rocketing rents to unethical landlord practices, it’s time to address the issues faced by the most vulnerable. https://lnkd.in/eKqrYk3c
