  • “I know it’s a cliché, but it really was the trip of a lifetime.” In 2017, Claire Way and her son Evan trekked part of The Great Wall of China over five days to raise funds for our care. “The guide took us to the most wonderful places and introduced us to lovely people,” says Claire. “We are still in touch with the little group of friends we made eight years ago, as we all shared beautiful, unique experiences together.” Next year, experience the world-famous fortification for yourself with our trek along a remote section taking in stunning landscapes. Find out about the October 2026 challenge with our information evening at St Richard’s, 6pm on Tuesday, 1 April. Register your place for the information evening, or sign up for the trek online: https://lnkd.in/eVrC2ehC Claire and Evan are pictured here with Becci (group shot, left hand side), who also took on the trek to raise funds for our care.

  • A huge thank you to Nathan and Claire from Prospect Coaches West Ltd, Daniel from C9 Recruitment, and Karen from the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) for raising an incredible £1,500 in memory of Ros at what was her favourite CPT event. Ros, a former Prospect Coaches West Ltd colleague and family member, was cared for by the hospice last June, and this generous donation will help us continue providing vital care and support to our patients, their loved ones and bereaved individuals across Worcestershire. We are so grateful for their support!

  • Earlier in the year we explained that we would be restructuring our services and introducing new ways of working to meet the increasing need for our care as people live much longer with multiple, complex conditions for which there is no cure. We also needed to secure our financial future as UK hospices face unprecedented funding pressures. We have now redesigned our clinical services and this is due to take shape from April so we can continue to deliver our usual high standards of care. Into the future we want to bring about the following improvements for patients, families and healthcare professionals across Worcestershire: • New Advice and Guidance services so patients and healthcare professionals can access advice, support and services at the time of need • Self-referral for patients for all community-based services to make things simpler and easier to access • Increased access to our Wellbeing Café • More Community Clinical Nurse Specialist clinics closer to patients’ homes • Revitalised and flexible Living Well programme to support patients and carers. To ensure these new ways of working can develop, we will be advertising some clinical posts in the coming weeks via our website. We’ll share more on these improvements as services develop. In the meantime, you can count on us to continue to offer care that feels personal and special. Thank you for your ongoing support in challenging times 💙

  • “In her eyes and mind the hospice was in the same position in terms of a gift as each of our grandchildren.” Ken’s wife, Gwen, left a legacy of £10,000 in her Will to St Richard’s Hospice. Our teams cared for Gwen over many years before she died in 2022, and were there for Ken, her husband of 62 years, too. “We had such wonderful feelings about St Richard’s that there was no hesitancy,” says Ken. “I can honestly say I was 100 per cent behind what Gwen desired.” With rising costs and growing demand for our services, your support is more important than ever. A gift in your Will helps ensure care at the end of life is here for everyone who needs it, both now and in the future 💙 Get started today: https://lnkd.in/dXeT9BDb
