Sanctuary

Non-profit Organizations

We are a leading provider of housing, care and commercial services; the heart of our business is a housing association.

About us

We are Sanctuary. We were set up more than 50 years ago and now provide housing and care in England and Scotland to more than a quarter of a million people, owning and managing around 120,000 units of accommodation. We exist to serve our customers and communities. Our mission is to build affordable homes and sustainable communities where people choose to live. We are a not-for-profit housing association, which means we don’t make profits for shareholders. Instead we invest all the income we make – every penny – into delivering on our social purpose. We play our part in tackling the national housing crisis by building good quality affordable homes all over the UK. We build to a wide variety of needs and styles, with the aim of creating or adding to a sustainable community. Our regeneration projects transform communities by listening to residents and putting their needs first. Social housing is at the core of what we do, and we believe secure, good quality accommodation can be the foundation that enables people to achieve their goals in life.

We're very pleased to share that we have been offered a £44.3m allocation of grant funding under the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3. This funding will be used to retrofit our homes to improve their energy efficiency, making them warmer and more comfortable for our customers. We will match-fund this allocation, building on the successful delivery of our Wave 1 and Wave 2.1 programmes under the previously-named Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund. We were truly impressed by the incredible entries we received from our colleagues' children in our colouring competition, launched by our Parent Network during Children’s Mental Health Week. Our Chief Financial Officer Edward Lunt had the tough task of selecting two winners, but we're excited to share just a few of the 60 fantastic submissions we had the pleasure of reviewing, showcasing creativity from children of all ages. 🌈🎨 #LifeAtSanctuary #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek

  • Our Group Chief Exec Craig was pleased to welcome new Worcester MP Tom Collins for a tour around some of our homes in the city. As our head office is in Worcester, it was great be able to show Tom how we work hard to provide safe, meaningful homes and communities at Sanctuary Care's Juniper House and Sanctuary Supported Living's Noble House. We also met Tom at our Woodmancote site to show him the community regeneration work happening there - check out this video to find out more: https://lnkd.in/eH9ehku6

  • We absolutely love seeing all this amazing artwork created by pupils from Blackawton Primary! 🎨🤩 We’re committed to working with our development partners to ensure that we’re making a positive impact and adding value in the communities where we’re delivering new homes. This is a fantastic example - a big thank you to Lancer Scott Ltd and everyone at the school for bringing this brilliant project to life. #SustainableCommunties #SocialValue

At Lancer Scott, we’re always looking for ways to bring real value to the communities we work in. As part of our project developing Baynards Court Care Home in Dartmouth for Vivant Care (operated by not-for-profit Sanctuary, Sanctuary Care), we recently partnered with a local school, Blackawton Primary, for a special art competition! 🖌️✨   The children created incredible artwork based on the theme ‘Caring for our Elders’, making it a tough decision to pick a winner! We were thrilled to visit the school, award art goodie packs to all participants, and present the winner with a full-size art kit. 🏆🎨 To share their hard work and beautiful art pieces with the wider community, 12 of our favourite pieces are now proudly displayed on the Vivant Care site hoarding!   During our visit, we also introduced the children to the project with photos, videos, and CGI renderings, giving them a glimpse into the new care home taking shape in their town. To further support the school’s creative efforts, we donated £200 towards new supplies, helping to inspire even more young artists! 🎨📚   But our community efforts didn’t stop there! After our school visit, we completed a food bank shop for Dartmouth Community Chest, a fantastic local initiative led by the inspiring Dawn Shepherd. This centre is a true beacon of the community, providing important support and connections to those across Dartmouth and the surrounding areas. We were grateful for the opportunity to drop off donations, learn more about their incredible work, and explore ways to continue supporting them as our project progresses.   Alongside Vivant Care, we’re making sure this project is about more than just a building—it’s about engaging, giving back, and enhancing the local community. A huge thank you to George Clark and Claire Keirle from Vivant Care (operated by Sanctuary Care), and Sarah and Nia from Lancer Scott, for ensuring community impact remains at the heart of this project.   #SocialValue #CommunityEngagment #DartmouthCommunityEngagement #CSR #SupportingLocal #BuildingBetterFutures
