Clever construction for your specialist industry. In our world, there are no simple projects, only specialist needs and clever solutions. And clever solutions only come from working with the right people. Experts in their particular field who know the design and construction processes inside out, can take ownership of the contract requirements, mitigate the risks, and guide your project through to completion. That's why we only employ industry-leading people with proven experience, supported by a hands-on team of experts and specialist contractors, who go beyond the build to deliver the best service and solutions possible. Because no two projects we work on are the same – each requires specialist knowledge of industries and their secure, sensitive processes, as well as expertise in technologies and regulation. Clever construction for specialist industries – that's the Sweet Projects Way. #CleverConstructionForSpecialistIndustries

Our next question for Careers in Construction Month was asked to Suraj Balra: Could you give an instance of how you/your team have gone beyond for a colleague? When one of our senior team members needed to take an extended leave for personal reasons, it was a pivotal moment for our team to step up… Read the full answer and a sneak peek at the next couple on our website here https://lnkd.in/etnA5Z-3

We had the pleasure of taking some of our new recruits, apprentices and graduates to an unforgettable evening of laughter at The Comedy Store in London on September 25th for The Honeypot Children's Charity's annual Comedy Night. It was a fantastic evening hosted by the incredible Ria Lina and featured an all-star line-up including Jo Brand, Andy Zaltzman, Geoff Norcott, Terry Alderton and Rachel Morton Young. The Honeypot Charity does life-changing work, supporting young carers as young as 5, by providing respite breaks and essential support. These children often take on adult responsibilities at a young age, caring for family members while balancing their own lives. Honeypot gives them the chance to create happy childhood memories and develop the skills they need for a brighter future. We’re proud to support such a meaningful cause and can’t wait to attend these events again in the future!

Next up this week is Tom Beardmore, Project Manager: What is your proudest 'exceptional' Sweet Projects moment to date? To have achieved full marks in the Considerate Constructors Scheme on both sets of visits, with multiple innovations being submitted to grant us further points. This accolade not only highlights our commitment to excellence but also underscores the collaborative effort and innovative approaches that define our team at Longcross and the wider business. This achievement is a testament to our team’s unwavering dedication to quality, safety, and community engagement. It reflects our business’s core values and our commitment to setting new benchmarks in the industry which has been proven by exceeding the stringent criteria set by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Both of these achievements were accomplished during the peak of the project's operational delivery requirements that involved complex coordinated operations whilst simultaneously implementing and collating the evidence and practices required to obtain this level of achievement. We asked Office Manager Toni Da Costa, 'What is one example of when a colleague has 'gone beyond' for you?' Our colleague, Neeraj, Sweets Welfare Assistant, truly went above and beyond for me. No matter the task, Neeraj is always incredibly helpful, but this time he really outdid himself. He arranged operatives to assist with an office churn that could have taken a few days and been highly disruptive to our staff. Thanks to his efforts, everything was done swiftly and with ease. He gathered several operatives (who are very busy on site) to quickly move office desks and equipment to various floors and in the correct places. Neeraj always knows exactly who to ask for help and does it all with a smile.

Join us in celebrating Careers in Construction month Ian Dovey, SHEQ Director, talks about his art of persuasion - with a strong logistics plan. “Take time to understand the Clients’ drivers and concerns... “Many years ago, we were tendering for a new teaching block for a school in Chippenham, Wiltshire. At that time, this was your typical school building and layout, but it was the location on-site - at the opposite end to the access point that was likely to cause issues. The Construction Director and I agreed to a site visit. We headed out to the school and reported to the reception explaining that we were on site regarding the new school block. What happened next made a huge difference... https://lnkd.in/e3W-qjS8

Last week, our Sweet Projects team partnered with the Canal & River Trust to take on the #PlasticsChallenge to help tackle plastic pollution and preserve our natural spaces. Together, we covered 10km along the Grand Union Canal in Hayes and Hillingdon, collecting plastics, empty cans, glass bottles – and a bike! Filling an entire skip with the waste removed, the team has clearly made a real impact in keeping our waterways clean. Thank you to everyone who supported us on the day – this effort truly demonstrates the impact we can make when we work together to protect our environment.

Thank you, Dominic, for mentioning Sweet Project's sustainability approach. It involves finding inventive ways to reduce carbon emissions and deliver carbon-neutral data centres for our clients. If you would like to learn more about our sustainability initiatives, please don't hesitate to contact us or visit the Sweet Projects website https://lnkd.in/ee64i6Wd
Following on from my post last week on the drive for sustainability in data centre builds, today we look at a couple of developers and operators who are going all out to design and build climate neutral, net zero carbon, energy efficient data halls. Vantage Data Centers and Ark Data Centres are both highly active in the UK at present, with several major build projects on site and several more in the pipeline. Ably supported by directional build partners such as Glencar and Sweet Projects, they are constantly pushing innovation, with sustainability at the core of this. Check out the graphic below to better understand some of Vantage and Ark’s sustainability initiatives. As a specialist team builder for major technical building projects, Build Space, loves to see forward thinking build practices like these.
