The 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) is themed "In Solidarity for a Green World." COP29 aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C, emphasizing the urgent need for investment in climate action. In honor of COP29, we’re shining a spotlight on The Journal of Environmental Policy and Planning (JEPP), an international journal that provides a forum for the analysis of environmental policy and planning. This year also happens to be the 25th anniversary of this journal, and they’re celebrating 25 volumes of the Journal by presenting one paper from each volume, chosen by their editorial team. We are pleased to bring you this episode of “How to Successfully Engage Patients in MedComms,” produced by Costello Medical, and featuring an expert panel including Emma Phillips, Sorcha Ní Dhochartaigh, Trishna Bharadia, BA(hons), MFPM(Hon), and our very own Rachel Jenkins. Rachel Jenkins discussed some of the work publishers can do to reach and engage patient audiences, one tactic being the use of Plain Language Summaries of Publications (PLSPs). PLSPs provide a clear summary of a publication using non-technical language published in a specialist journal that is accessible to any reader. Educators, policymakers, and others are looking for ways to support student learning, and help counteract academic losses. In “Nourishing Caregiver Collaborations: Elevating Home Experiences and Classroom Practices for Collective Care,” Founder and Lead Literacy Consultant at NQC Literacy, Nawal Qarooni, invites us to step beyond school-centric, one-off events and practices to create more authentic, engaging collaborations with caregivers.
