You can help transform communities one quiz at a time! The money you raise from Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night supports our Transforming Communities programme, helping local churches around the world lead their communities out of extreme poverty and into a sustainable future. You could support people like Julius in South Sudan, who listened to Tearfund’s training on Hope FM, a local radio station. Julius learned how to use new farming methods to earn a steady income. ‘Without this training, we would still be stuck in our old lifestyle,’ says Julius. ‘We had no idea how to transform the soil to produce more. [Tearfund’s training] has inspired me to discover what is within our environment.’ Sign up to host a Big Quiz Night and if you have any questions, we'll answer them in the comments! - https://brnw.ch/21wOpE6 📸 Tom Price

While many of us debate recycling solutions, one in four people worldwide have no options for collecting and disposing of their waste. Unfortunately, the people who are least responsible for plastic pollution are suffering its worst consequences. This impacts their communities, environment and health. This month in Busan, South Korea, world leaders are negotiating a crucial global plastic treaty to end plastic pollution and its impacts on people living in poverty. Find out more about why a global plastic treaty matters for the countries where we work https://lnkd.in/edY8Cjth

In Twic East, South Sudan, years of food insecurity and trauma from war and disease had left people heavily relying on humanitarian aid and without much hope of change. In 2020, Tearfund’s partner African Inland Church ran Transforming Communities training in the region. The training inspired the church to become peacemakers in their area. They ran trauma healing sessions, learned to use their skills and resources better, and organised peace conferences to resolve local conflicts. They also identified Peace Champions who now train the community. Pray with us today for peacemakers in communities. 📸 Diane Igirimbabazi
