𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 We’re seeking organisations to act as test sites and share insights into social care challenges for the Thames Freeport Adult Social Care Accelerator (ASCA). In collaboration with Rainmaking, this initiative tackles care system pressures by piloting innovative technologies to empower independence and improve outcomes. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 With the over-65 population growing and more individuals managing chronic conditions, our care system faces increasing pressure. The ASCA is designed to address this by testing and scaling innovative care technologies in partnership with local authorities, care providers, and communities across London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Thurrock Council and London Borough of Havering. 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝟮𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 Thames Freeport is more than an economic engine—it’s a transformative partnership driving trade, innovation, and community support. Its Adult Social Care focus is central to ensuring the benefits of innovation are felt by those most in need. 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 Last year, we collaborated with councils and care providers to identify three priority areas: • Prediction: Identifying individuals at risk early to enable timely intervention. • Prevention: Empowering people to manage their health before problems escalate. • Supporting Independence: Helping people stay mobile and capable of daily tasks. Momentum in #RiverFreight is really picking up now on the #Thames. In the last months I’ve seen a real step change in the interest, commitment and positioning of organisations and partners to drive a transformation in how we use the river better to take freight off our roads, reducing #congestion and #emsissions. Great work from Thames Estuary Growth Board on the RULE project building out the model and how it all works. Fantastic people and partners in the room this morning at a breakfast event marking the next delivery phase of the work hosted at the Thames Clippers Lounge on the water. Our chair Ruth Kelly spoke about the opportunity we see from Thames Freeport , to drive and connect #economicgrowth and #regeneration and the importance of our partnership with the Growth Board and the Port of London Authority in making this a reality. A pleasure too catching up with my ELIRE Group colleagues Luke Jenkinson and Shareena Ali on the opportunity of #floatinginfrastructure to be a key part of enabling a future river freight ecosystem, as well as many other applications including greening the #cruise industry and supporting #construction programmes in built up areas. Ruth, Martin Whiteley and I then hopped on the Uber Boat by Thames Clippers taking us all the way down to the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham for our next meeting with the Freeport partners on future innovation programmes. Making the journey in great time, gliding through the city, through the Thames Barrier, arriving at Barking Riverside Limited and taking a one stop hop on the overground to Barking Town Hall. Travelling by river through the city allows you to see the #infrastructure projects we’re capable of when we put our minds to it and commit to a mission. But also allows you to see all the opportunities along the Thames to do so much more.

Thames Freeport: A New Era of Opportunity The recent decision by Maersk, the world's second-largest shipping company, to relocate its UK operations from Felixstowe to London Gateway marks a significant milestone for the Thames Freeport. This strategic move underscores London Gateway's growing prominence as a premier hub for global trade. For the Thames Freeport, this development aligns seamlessly with our mission to drive economic growth and create value for the local community. The influx of Maersk's operations is expected to generate numerous opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and enhance the region's infrastructure. As we continue to attract major global players, the Thames Freeport is poised to become a central node in international logistics, bringing prosperity and development to the surrounding areas.
