Last week, our Sustainability team took part in ID:SR Sheppard Robson’s Green Week initiative with The Manchester Metropolitan University, hosting our Material Lab workshop at the TFP Manchester office.    It was a privilege to support the education of young minds, with TFP’s Alex Webb and Emily Moore leading discussions on key sustainability topics in the furniture industry – from materials and supply chains to production processes, climate impact and the circular economy.    A huge thank you to ID:SR and everyone who joined us for such an insightful and thought-provoking event.    #sustainability #materiality #sustainabledesign #furniture #BCorpMonth2025 #BCorp #GenB Amy Carter

Last month, our team attended the annual Stockholm Design Week & Stockholm Furniture Fair to explore the latest in Scandinavian design and beyond. Sustainability remained a key focus, with standout examples such as 3D-printed designs made from bio-based materials and innovative production methods aimed at reducing waste. Sculptural pieces seamlessly merged artistic expression with functionality, while minimalist designs showcased clean, simple forms without compromising comfort. We were thrilled to revisit Folk Co-living Florence Dock this month as part of our #whycoliving campaign with industry leaders in the UK co-living sector.   After touring Florence Dock and reviewing key findings with Conscious Coliving, the first research-backed article has been released. ‘Co-living: A Catalyst for Urban Regeneration’ shares evidence for why co-living can contribute significantly to urban regeneration.    Key takeaways from the research suggest that co-living can help drive social regeneration by offering shared spaces, supporting affordable housing, and attracting professionals who contribute to local communities and employment.    In 2023, Viasat unveiled its new London office, designed by tp bennett after its acquisition of UK-based Inmarsat. The space seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and wellbeing, with features such as a rooftop bar, gym, medical room, relaxation areas, and multi-faith room to support employees. Thoughtful design details, including warm tones for high-activity areas, cooler hues for focus spaces, and greenery, enhance the workplace environment.   We worked closely with tp bennett and the client team, managing all aspects of the furniture. Sustainability was a key focus, with around 40% of existing pieces repurposed through a process of audits, design workshops, and refurbishments, seamlessly blending them with new additions. The built environment is responsible for 25% of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions and, in order to reduce emissions, the industry must mobilise multiple sectors towards the common goal of decarbonisation. If we are to reach Net Zero as an industry, we’ll need to rapidly reduce emissions throughout our supply chains. Designed by tp bennett, Blossom Yard is a dynamic new office for the global legal firm Reed Smith LLP, seamlessly integrating a restored 19th-century warehouse with modern Scandinavian design. Located in Spitalfields, London, the eight-floor development reimagines the often-traditional aesthetic of legal offices. Its balanced layout blends open-plan areas with cellular offices, promoting inclusivity and modernity. Working alongside TP Bennett, we specified a mix of bespoke and refurbished furniture to create an open, inclusive environment that prioritises both client and staff experience. From carefully selected materials to the integration of timeless design elements, the result is a dynamic and welcoming workspace that balances flexibility, sustainability, and respect for the building’s history.
