"There may be less PBSA than students but there is not a shortage of places students can live in most cities. Hence there are empty beds in PBSA. So stop glamourising a huge undersupply - it isn't as simple as that. And developers have created this problem by not creating enough variety of products to appeal to a larger number of the student demographic." A new episode of Housed is now live, Deenie, Dan and Sarah feedback on the recent events they have attended as well as some of the other key topics in shared living. Here's what the episode covers: 🔵 Urban Living Insights Takeaways (hosted by International Hospitality Media Limited) : Differentiating the BTR product and how technology can support this. 🔵 The need for the BTR sector to focus on core deliverables and expertise rather than jumping on a trend or being too reactive 🔵 The use of redevelopment and repurposing of buildings as well as technology and AI to offer more affordable housing 🔵 Inspiring Women in Property Takeaways: Sarah's stand out moment from the Property Week awards ceremony 🔵 Global Student Living Conference Takeaways: The session on Women in PBSA which made Dan both emotional and reflective and why he wants to see this topic being built on for next year 🔵 Information on the women's networking session at The Class Foundation Conference 🔵 Dangerous headlines - lazy journalism and and miscommunication of data and how it's producing the wrong headlines Listen here: https://lnkd.in/ekKFa6xq This episode of Housed is sponsored by Mystudenthalls.com - Search student accommodation across the UK www.mystudenthalls.com #BTR #PBSA #affordability #womeninproperty #sharedliving #realestate

Is it time that we start thinking about PBSA lite? In the latest Housed episode, Sarah, Dan and Deenie discussed the key insights taken from the recent Howard Kennedy LLP event which they took part in earlier this month. The event lifted the lid on potential issues which will be facing the PBSA sector in the future and one of the takeaways, from panellist Debra Yudolph, was that the BTR sector are already offering a product to help with affordability issues, how can PBSA compete with this? Other topics discussed in this episode: 🟣 The complex needs of students in the future and how PBSA are best placed to manage these compared to BTR 🟣 Does the PBSA/shared living sector need to go down route of branding like hotels have? Becoming more defined and descriptive for it's audience  🟣 The need for planning authorities to manage what is being built against what is needed or in demand to help separate co-living, BTR and PBSA 🟣 Is dynamic pricing out of control? Is it fair to charge students who book later a higher price? 🟣 The need to start building for the future needs of Gen Alpha and not Gen Z. Is it fair to charge students who book later a higher price? 💠 Cash back and promotions - why does this frustrate Dan, Deenie and Sarah every year? 💠 Gen Alpha - are you ready for them?
