Have you started reading the October edition of our Journal yet? We were just as excited as you, Richard Briggs! A big thank you to both Richard and Rob Carroll for their brilliant article, What is Light Rail? The PWI Journal, October edition: https://lnkd.in/eArcAdT5.
Urban Transit & Mobility Deputy Practice Leader / Midlands Infrastructure Account Leader / UK Tram Centre of Excellence Member
I was very excited to receive The PWI Journal today as it includes the What is Light Rail article that was produced by Rob Carroll and myself. it draws upon our own and Mott MacDonald's wider award winning expertise in light rail. I hope members find it informative and learn more about the transformative benefits of non mainline systems and tramways as well as the innovations that have been introduced by the light rail sector and are now bringing wider benefits to mainline railways too. #pwi #lrt #lightrail #urbantransit #mobility #mottmacdonald

The PWI reposted this
We had a great turn out for the The PWI Birmingham section talk last week, with over 50 people attending. Once again, big thank you to Paul Thomas for this very interesting talk on the digital transformation of the East Coast Mainline. It was great how engaging everyone was with their questions at the end. As one member said "Really interesting talk, learnt a lot in a relatively short space of time". I am now on the look out for new presenters who would like to give a talk to our section, it could be on particular rail project your working on, new technical developments within the rail industry, or simply sharing insights into the world of rail engineering. If you think you might have a topic of interest, please do get in touch and send me a message and we can have a chat about it. Thanks all, Your PWI Birmingham Chair

Get ready for the PWI's second Practical Electrification Challenge! Next week’s event is a fantastic opportunity to take part in electrification work in a protected, low-stress environment. As the industry works ever harder to reduce workforce exposure to operational railway risk, it’s difficult for many people engaged in railway infrastructure engineering to get experience of working on-site. However, no matter what your role, you can and will perform better if you have a good grasp of the challenges that practical electrification work presents. Thanks to the support of organisers Furrer+Frey AG, SPL POWERLINES UK, AtkinsRéalis, and Network Rail, as well as exhibitors Cembre Group, Mosdorfer Rail & Gripple UK & Ireland, we’re sure this event will help attendees grow professionally and provide an invaluable understanding of the complexities of electrification work. It’s all about teamwork, personal development, and learning that will benefit you throughout your career. A special thank you to organisers Mike Barlow, Garry Keenor, Noel Dolphin & Joan Heery. Looking forward to seeing you all rise to the challenge! Daniil Webb, Danny W., Gavin James, Dragos Diaconu. #Electrification #PWIEvent #PWIPracticalElectrificationChallenge #ProfessionalDevelopment
