Exciting News from Edinburgh Remakery! 💚 We’re thrilled to be one of The Royal Mint’s key partners on their ground-breaking journey toward a more sustainable future for precious metals as our CEO Elaine Brown travelled to Wales to attend the partners launch event in October. The Royal Mint has unveiled a new Precious Metals Recovery factory in south Wales, where they’re using ‘world-first’ patented chemistry, developed by Excir to extract high-quality gold from printed circuit boards (PCBs) found in discarded everyday electronics. At Edinburgh Remakery, we’re proud to play a role in this process. When devices come to us too old or damaged to be repaired or refurbished, we carefully dismantle them and extract their circuit boards. These boards are then sent to The Royal Mint’s facility to be processed. The gold recovered is being used in The Royal Mint’s luxury jewellery collection, 886 by The Royal Mint Together, we’re tackling e-waste while preserving precious resources for future generations and this collaboration is a huge win for environmental sustainability! ♻️ Sustainable Precious Metals at The Royal Mint

In August, we released a number of £1 coins into circulation. Featuring two British bees, the coin is part of His Majesty The King's first definitive coins created with the support of the RSPB and Royal Horticultural Society. The Royal Mint Museum's Information and Research Manager, Chris Barker was recently invited to an event at the RSPB's UK headquarters to talk about the coins and the importance of our collaboration. Chris said: "It was a privilege to have been invited to speak at this event. The new coins of Charles III are a testament to the beauty of British wildlife, but they also act as important reminder about what we potentially stand to lose unless we take action to preserve these endangered species. The RSPB are at the forefront of effort to ensure the survival of these species, and the professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm of all the staff at the RSPB is inspirational".

Head of Legacy Marketing at RSPB

Last Friday the RSPB's UK Legacy Marketing and Philanthropy Teams held their first joint face to face event at our UK Headquarters, The Lodge. The event was made even more special as this was also in partnership with The Royal Mint as a celebration of the collaboration between our organisations in the design of our new National Coins. The new designs are inspired by flora and fauna found across Britain and reflect King Charles III’s passion for conservation and the natural world. The day was a huge success with supporters invited along to the Lodge to hear inspiring presentations from our conservation team with content specifically related to the key species from the designs of the new coins. We also welcomed Beccy Speight our Chief Executive and our Executive Director for Income and Conservation Investment, Andrew Cook. Being at our headquarters, it seemed fitting to showcase some of our historic artefacts and our librarians displayed some wonderful pieces from our archives. Even managing to find an original version of ‘Bird Notes and News’ from 1938 which featured a lovely article about the Royal Mint’s decision to put the first bird, a Wren on the front of a coin. The Farthing was worth one quarter of a penny at the time with the wren being introduced into circulation in 1937. Our supporters were also taken on tours of the reserve and gardens with the opportunity to learn more about the ancient trees and species resident around the Lodge. The day was topped off with an excellent presentation delivered by Chris Barker, Information and Research Manager from the Royalmint Museum. Chris delivered an exceptional talk about the history of nature on coins through time and the story of how conservation and nature has come to feature on the new National coins marking the King’s coronation. The second event we have held with the Royal Mint this year, the first in Scotland in the spring to launch the new National coins, we are delighted to continue to partner and work closely together to highlight the importance of conservation in the UK and our work to protect and restore nature for generations to come. Hopefully the new National coins are a valuable marker in time of this important work. Congratulations and huge well done to everyone involved in creating such an amazing event, very proud of everyone’s hard work. At The Royal Mint, we've seen a significant shift in how women are approaching investment. Women now account for 26% of our investment customers, up from just 8% in 2018.   Our latest research with Censuswide shows that 27% of women plan to move their savings into investments in the next year. 16% are considering investing in gold to enhance their portfolios.   However, more than half (58%) of women who do not invest feel financial jargon is too complicated, compared with 47% of men.   We want to empower more women to learn about investing in precious metals. Our new platform is designed to simplify the process and will help anyone looking to start their investment journey. https://lnkd.in/eyad8bfD
