Fantastic news that the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool will reopen later this year. Constructed in 1913, the Epstein Theatre was originally conceived as a concert hall (the Crane Hall) for instrumental recitals for the music shop it was built above. It was soon converted into an unusual and intimate theatre, which provided a venue of a different scale from others in the city. Issues with its lease lead to its closure in 2023, following which we added the Grade II listed venue to our Theatres at Risk Register and have been working since then to help find a way forward for this unique and beloved venue. We will continue to work with the Epstein Theatre to ensure a bright and stable future for this glorious venue on its return to entertaining the people of Liverpool. https://lnkd.in/edBQxDEe #TheatresAtRisk #HeritageAtRisk #Theatres #Liverpool

Salford Victoria is an architecturally important theatre designed by eminent theatre architect Bertie Crewe. It has rare substage machinery believed to be the only complete surviving example of its kind in the UK. It is on our Theatres at Risk Register and we are supporting a local group Salford Victoria Theatre Trust (SVTT) with its plans to revive the building for community use. The group is currently looking to recruit new board members to drive the campaign to save it and shape the strategic direction of SVTT Find out more on the SVTT website https://lnkd.in/e7vkg8kh #HeritageAtRisk #TheatresAtRisk #Governance #BoardJobs

Fantastic to see the outpouring of love for Battersea Arts Centre on the anniversary of the fire that proved to be the start of a new beginning rather than its end. We were thrilled that Battersea Arts Centre was able to host our 2019 conference not long after it reopened, giving theatre sector colleagues from across the UK a chance to see its stunning reimagining. Of course, it is more than just a beautiful building - Battersea Arts Centre continues to be at the forefront of inclusion and creativity
Project Spotlight: Series 2 🎞️ Ten Years On - How Battersea Arts Centre Rose from the Ashes Today marks a decade since the devastating fire at Battersea Arts Centre on March 13, 2015. Bristow Consulting are honoured to attend a special intimate breakfast, celebrating ten years of resilience, creativity, and rebirth. From the ashes, the Grand Hall was beautifully restored, reopening in 2018 with the inspiring Phoenix Season. The restoration process was a true labour of love, ensuring the building not only regained its former glory but was reimagined for the future. In the immediate aftermath, emergency stabilisation works were critical: from façade retention and internal propping to the swift installation of a temporary roof to protect the building from further damage. Throughout this journey, we played a key role in cost management, acting as the client representative for Battersea Arts Centre, managing Loss Adjuster negotiations, and overseeing the project's financial and operational success. A true testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and the unwavering spirit of the arts. 🏆 Project Awards: Civic Trust AABC Conservation Award 2020 Wood Award 2019 Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Award 2019 Client: Battersea Arts Centre Architect: Haworth Tompkins #10YearsOn #Restoration #costmanagement

Exciting opportunity to join our small team and make a real impact on our work, supporting theatres to be fit for the future #Fundraising #FundraisingJobs #Hiring #ArtsJobs #TheatreJobs
Opportunity: Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy We are seeking an experienced and creative individual to head up the new ‘Partnerships and Philanthropy’ portfolio of Theatres Trust. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategy that generates raised income for the organisation. To date, the majority of raised income has been from private grant-making Trusts and Foundations, but we know this model is not sustainable. We are therefore looking for someone with new ideas to shift the focus and explore new avenues. The role is a great opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, with a bold approach and the confidence that comes from a successful track record. Working with our new CEO, you will be encouraged to bring your fresh perspective and varied experience to take Theatres Trust’s income generation to the next level. Deadline for applications: 31 March Find out more on our website #ArtsJobs #FundraisingJobs #Hiring https://lnkd.in/eT3gQfU7

On International Women's Day, we are celebrating Jennie Lee, whose advocacy for the arts formed policy that shaped the cultural landscape we see today. One of the first women MPs, Janet 'Jennie' Lee was appointed as the first ever Minister for the Arts following the 1964 general election, and in February 1965 published the only arts white paper of the 20th century, ‘A Policy for the Arts – The First Steps’. The paper focused on tackling inequality and the arts being accessible to all. Lee herself was born into the working class as the daughter of a coal miner. On the paper’s 60th anniversary, Theatres Trust's CEO, Joshua McTaggart and Chair, Dave Moutrey attended the inaugural Jennie Lee Lecture at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-Upon-Avon, where Secretary of State Lisa Nandy honoured Lee’s legacy and announced the government’s £270m Arts Everywhere Fund, including an £85m Creative Foundations Fund for urgent capital works in venues. ℹ️ First elected as an MP in 1929, at 24 Lee was the youngest MP of her time. ℹ️ Jennie Lee was a leading founder of the Open University. ℹ️ Lee was married to Nye Bevan who spearheaded the creation of the NHS. 📷 Jennie Lee by Walter Bird, 15 February 1965 © National Portrait Gallery, London CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 #InternationalWomensDay #IWD #IWD2025

Are you working on a Reuse Hub for the Creative Sector? I hope so because I recently ran some numbers and it looks like the sector could be buying and throwing away £1.1bn of materials a year in the UK alone*. So there is a lot of value in thinking differently I'd say. Arts Council England have kindly supported ReStage to build on their recent circular economy networks report by SOENECS Ltd. We want to join the dots between people leading and setting up circular hubs for the creative sector across the country. If this sounds like you and your project** please complete the survey below so we can get in touch and invite you to join an online workshop in March to identify common challenges and shared solutions. We hope this will be the beginning of a collective call for action and investment. https://lnkd.in/eY4kjBP7 If its not you - please do share with your #CircularCreative network. * absolutely happy to chat you through my assumptions and numbers and add any data/insight you have to help refine and improve the accuracy ** I'm looking at you Tilly Ashton, Severn Screen, Jamie Saye, Ella Nevill, AssetFlow, Alex Homfray, Feimatta Conteh, Rocket Scenery, PropUp Project, Simon Cook, Alex Marsh, Freya Bruce @recollectiveltd, Bon Volks, Re-Scene It, SET-A-SIDE STORAGE LIMITED, Billy Morley, Lewis Inwood, Melissa Meyer, Kristen Gilmore, Paul Handley, Mel Allwood, Orlando Gibbons, Jo Negrini, Alex Russell, Patrick Scally, Bryony Bond, Helen Pheby PhD, Justine Simons OBE, Nicola Saunders, Creative Cardiff, Theatre Green Book, Bafta Albert, Media Cymru, Tegan Reg James, Thames Estuary Growth Board, Creative Estuary, Rachael Roe —— ReStage's founding partners are the Mayor of London and the National Theatre
