On Monday night we hosted our annual People & Talent Leadership event in London, bringing together Europe’s leading Chief People Officers and Chief HR Officers, from companies including OakNorth, GoCardless, Ocado Retail, Vinted, Delivery Hero, Cleo, AVIV Group, Deliverect and Atom bank and Talent leaders from funds such as Atomico, Balderton Capital, Sequoia Capital, Octopus Ventures, BGF, Dawn Capital, LocalGlobe, and Mayfair Equity Partners LLP. We heard from two fantastic speakers: Aileen O'Toole, Chief People Officer (former) at Prosus Group and Naspers Limited, and Rose Deschamps (née Button), Human Capital, EMEA at TA Associates. Aileen kicked off proceedings, sharing what she has learned about scaling consumer internet businesses throughout her career. Aileen emphasised the need to balance mission and values with performance, talent management, and fostering diversity of thought amongst the leadership group. Following Aileen, Rose provided insights from the private equity perspective and spoke to the audience about what TA Associates look for when trying to get people leaders into their portfolio. She highlighted the evolving nature of the People function within portfolio companies and emphasised the importance of being strategic, holistic and data-driven, particularly in this evolving Gen AI landscape. Last night we hosted our annual B2B Software Dinner in London, bringing together 150 VC/PE Partners, Chairs, NEDs, CEOs and C-suite executives from companies including Salesforce, SumUp, Thought Machine, Exclaimer, InPost, PPRO, Modulr, Ardoq, Curve, Trustpilot, Accel, Warburg Pincus LLC, Index Ventures, Goldman Sachs, Eurazeo, Octopus Ventures, OMERS, and many others. It was an inspiring evening of networking with this diverse and talented group. We heard from two fantastic speakers: Zahra Bahrololoumi CBE, CEO UK & Ireland at Salesforce and Hannah Seal, Partner at Index Ventures. Zahra kicked off proceedings, discussing the AI boom, and her experiences as a diverse leader in tech. Zahra implored the audience to embed a responsible approach towards building AI to ensure that it is inclusive to all that it will impact. Following Zahra, Hannah provided insight into how venture funds are thinking about investing in B2B technology and how the emergence of AI will enable this space to build some of the most transformative companies seen to date. Hannah also discussed the impact of AI on the future of work and presented a cautiously optimistic view that the workforce will be freed up to spend more time on creative tasks as opposed to having their roles removed.
