This month's Champion of Change is Edward Trevor! Edward Trevor has been a brilliant supporter of our charity for nearly ten years, being instrumental in securing over £50,000 of funding for our disability work in the London Borough of Sutton. Over 1,000 children and young people have benefitted from Edward’s support over this time as part of programmes including Hit the Top, London Futures and Fencing 4 Change and his ongoing support has allowed us to offer free use to special needs groups in the borough and to develop our centre to be as accessible and welcoming as possible for young people who often do not have access to high quality sports facilities, coaching and competitions. The centre has also been home to the England Blind Cricket Team and the England Visually Impaired Rugby Team and none of this would have been possible without Edward’s wonderful support.

On Monday, 15 young people across our London Futures, Street Elite and Young Mum’s programmes took part in an employability day with David Lloyd Clubs Kensington where they learnt about their company, their job roles and recruitment process, as well as the benefits of working at David Lloyd. They also got the opportunity to have a tour of the club and use their facilities. The young people really enjoyed the experience and look forward to keeping an eye out for upcoming vacancies they are offer. A big thank you to James, Ross and Shedaine for their support in recruiting young people and for their support on the day and to TDR Capital for introducing us.

On Thursday we hosted our Annual Golf Day at St George's Hill Golf Club near Weybridge and many of our guests described it as the best course they had ever played.   The day was made possible through the hard work of our brilliant golf committee, made up of ambassadors Glenn Ballard, Iain Kennedy, Nick King, James Lindley and Stewart Licudi.   Glenn’s company, NewWorldTech | NWT, sponsored the day with additional support from the United Business Group, Capital City Media Ltd , Castell Wealth Management, NJSGroup, Charles Square (CSq), Partridge BMW, William Blair, Ireland Green Power, Henham Strategy, Mercator Digital, Warren Equity Partners, CGI, PPL and Aon.   The day was run by AMHC, an events company set up and run by former TCF member of staff, Adam Hall and he was supported on the day by Rae, Ross, Ryan, Dan L and Caine with great support from Shedaine.   Apart from being a great fundraiser, the event was also an excellent way for us to meet a whole raft of potential new supporters.

On Sunday October 13th, I will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London. I will be doing this in aid of The Change Foundation UK. Being an Ambassador for Change, I have the privilege seeing first hand the incredible impact that this charity has on young people from all walks of life. The Change Foundation UK is a charity whose mission is to change the lives of marginalised young people through the power of sport. They deliver targeted long-term interventions for the most vulnerable young people, through Coach Mentors providing regular sports sessions, personalised mentoring and work-related opportunities. Over the last 43 years, TCF has helped to support young people affected by social issues such as knife crime, unemployment and disability inclusion. I would be ever so grateful for your support. Any amount will be hugely appreciated. Thank you in advance! Link to donate: https://lnkd.in/e2BmaXN2

Chris is this month's Champion of Change for all his amazing work in undertaking challenges and fundraising for The Change Foundation.    Chris Knight has gone above and beyond for The Change Foundation in recent times. Introduced to us through our charity partner of two years, Coutts, and initially signed up to undertake a charity skydive, which due to foot surgery and medical advice he could no longer take part, but which hasn't stopped him undertaking a series of challenges for us. These have including Surfing the Wave in Bristol, London to Folkstone cycle (80 miles) and a 20 km Thames Kayak, where he shared a kayak with one of our Young Ambassadors, and an upcoming 30km charity walk.    Chris has so far raised £1,425 for The Change Foundation's work and we are incredibly grateful, if you would like to donate to Chris's massive fundraising efforts please click the link https://lnkd.in/e-xDs7iE   We feel incredibly lucky to have Chris as a supporter of The Change Foundation and hope he remains a great friend for years to come.

On Tuesday Caine went to the House of Lords to attend an event hosted by Laureus and Zellar to meet and talk to people in the environmental sustainability, sports, and charity sector and to listen and learn from the speakers of the evening who shared insight and experience in the world of sport and sustainability. Caine was introduced to Zellar (a sustainability and environmental reporting software) by Laureus through our Chair of Trustees, Vicky and through Vicky, we were invited by Laureus to be part of a programme to help Zellar learn from charities’ experiences of their new software, which help report accurately on emissions in their operations. It has helped us create emissions reports and see how we have been doing over the last couple of years and what we can do better moving forward in our quest to become carbon neutral. Caine learnt a great deal, met many interesting and knowledgeable people and spoke to experts from Zellar who work on the project and who were able to explain how TCF and other charities have been using and benefiting from using the Zellar software.

This week we celebrated our London Futures graduation which is supported by TDR Capital. We have worked intensively with 13 young people with a disability on a 20 week employability programme using sport to support them in their preparation and readiness for the world of work. Well done to all those who graduated and a big thank you to TDR for three fantastic years of support.
